problem #3

Dec 312018

Accord EX 2.4L

  • CVT transmission
  • 18,166 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

500 some miles, highway driving, burns about 1/2 quarter of oil, but didn't seem doing it with city driving. Will keep an eye on it.

problem #2

Dec 102017

Accord Sport 2.4L

  • CVT transmission
  • 11,650 miles

Engine rear main seal and torque converter main seal was replaced at 5400 miles due to a leak. Oil was changed at 6400 miles. Added 4.4 QTS of Mobil 1 0W-20 AFE synthetic to the car with new Honda oil filter. Oil was just below full mark. I check the oil every month and tire pressure. When I checked the oil in DEC 2017 after about 5,000 miles of service, it was just above the minimum mark, about 1/8 inch above

I still have the 5 Quart jug of Mobil 1 AFE and it is now empty. Added the remaining oil from the jug and brought the oil level back up to about 1/4 inch below full mark. Definitely burning oil.

Update from Feb 4, 2020: After switching to SN Plus oil quality (Mobil Extended Performance 0W-20 and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20, (both SN Plus), oil consumption seems to have diminished. At 28,600 miles, I checked the oil level before changing the oil and it was spot on about 1/8 inch below the full mark while hot. This is where the oil level usually is after oil changes and when I check during fill ups. I believe switching to an SN Plus rated oil has helped. I check the oil at every fill up and I haven't had to add any oil between oil changes since using SN Plus oil. I have also stopped using Mobil Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20 which may be some of the culprit being that it has a very low MERV rating and excellent flow properties. Sticking with a low volatility rated oil seems to be solving the problem.

Accord EX-L 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,432 miles

1/2 quart of oil consumption every 1000 or 1200 miles

I bought my 2016 V6 Accord from the Honda Dealership directly, I got a good deal because the car had 1432 miles already because the car was used for demonstration purposes on potential customers and one sales rep used frequently. When I decided to buy the car based on the price and a couple of extras they gave me to seal the deal I told the sales rep that I was going to check the car completely and raise it on the service lifter to verify underneath the car, everything was good no crashes or hits were visible, everything looked new and ok, also I check all the fluid levels and were ok/fine exept the oil level that was already missing a 1/2 a quart of oil, I told them and they replenish to full before I took the car home. Today 01/15/17 I checked the oil level again and I had refill it with a 1/2 of a quart with 1715 miles on the car, that's 283 miles of use only.

The car doesn't leak or smoke when the engine is running or anything, so what should I do ??, everything else works perfectly on the car, this is a new car ok.
