problem #2

Dec 202019

Accord LX 1.5L

  • Automatic transmission

I noticed a thin line at the bottom center of my windshield. It looked symmetric, about 20 inches across the bottom with curving down on both ends. It does not seems to have any stone marks to explain that crack. Also, the location, bottom, does not look like a place that can be easily reached with a flying stone. I contacted the dealership; still waiting for a call back. I noticed here that more people had a similar problem with this model.

Accord EX-L 1.8L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,500 miles

The windshield cracked when parked. I had washed my car the day before so I know there were no cracks (self carwash, no pressure washer or drive through car wash). Woke up the next morning to see a crack on the windshield. I did not drive it since the car wash. It was not hit by rock or show signs of it being hit by a rock. There were no signs of chipping anywhere. It looks like a crack formed by the middle edge on the passenger side, then moved towards the center. It was a clean line.

Went to Roseville Autonation Honda (Sacramento California). I talked to the maintenance manger. He stated that it was hit, but was not able to point out the hit. I inspected it and I did not feel any impact marks. The crack was smooth. The dealer stated that they will not repair it, even though it's a manufacturing defect. The crack looks like it was a stress crack from where they installed the glass on an uneven surface.

My family owned 4 Hondas over 15 years. We are considered a Honda family. We will not be buying another Honda for their poor customer service and failing to repair manufacturing defects. My previous Honda Prelude was hit by multiple rocks and never formed a crack or chip. These cars Honda are making today are so fragile.

If anyone is filing a lawsuit, I would like to be part of the class action. Honda need to submit a recall for their cheap glass, or at least honor manufacturing defect repairs.
