NHTSA — Service Brakes, Hydraulic: Foundation Components: Disc: Rotor Problems

CarComplaints.com Seal Of This Might Hurt

CarComplaints.com Notes: The 1999-2003 Acura TL has a known & widespread defect with the transmission.

Honda fixed some vehicles with a recall in 2004 by changing the oil cooler return line. To settle a class action lawsuit in 2006, Honda extended the transmission warranty on some of these Acura TL's to 93 months / 109,000 miles.

Now these vehicles are past the warranty limit, so buyer beware.

When applying the brake from 50 mph or more in an emergency or sudden stop situation vehicle shook severely out of control. Vehicle was taken to the dealer 10 times or more. Dealer continuously turned the front rotors or replaced them every 10,000 - 12,000 miles. Dealer was unable to give reason for this condition.

Brakes exhibited vibration during braking; appears rotors went out of round prematurely; dealership gave "1 time" goodwill gesture and machined rotors and replaced pads on front brakes at no charge.
