NHTSA — Vehicle Speed Control: Cruise Control Problems

CarComplaints.com Seal Of Avoid Like The Plague

CarComplaints.com Notes: The 1999-2003 Acura TL has a known & widespread defect with the transmission.

Honda fixed some vehicles with a recall in 2004 by changing the oil cooler return line. To settle a class action lawsuit in 2006, Honda extended the transmission warranty on some of these Acura TL's to 93 months / 109,000 miles.

Now these vehicles are past the warranty limit, so buyer beware.

I had a terrifying experience with sudden acceleration with the car heading well over 100 mph on the pa turnpike. Nothing in car responded - brakes, emergency brake, gear shifting...had to turn off car to stop it! roadside assistance was called. Car was towed this morning (2 days after situation) and is now at dealership. They checked under the hood and said that all was fine - the battery cover looked out of place. I just had this car in last week for the transmission recall. I am afraid to drive this car, let alone have my daughter drive it. I have heard nothing further today.
