Takata recall I recently got a notice for an airbag recall (recall #16V071). There was a notification on the recall that if "the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner to file an online complaint" with this website. I contacted the dealerships closest to me and both said they are backed up until the 2nd quarter of 2018. This is scary because these notices are saying that the airbag erupting could cause serious injury or death. I would like to get these replaced asap so I am not risking my safety or the safety of others in my car. Thank you!

Message that comes on when engine first turned on and stationary, reads: "fault in passenger-restraint system affecting air bag, belt tension or belt force limiter. Continue to wear seat belt." However, this car not included in the recall when I check license number.

Takata airbag. I received my airbag recall notice in March 2016. Since then, I called my BMW dealer asking for installation of replacement. They said it wasn't available. I later visited the dealer on August 2, 2017. They, again, said the airbag wasn't available. I called BMW customer relations shortly thereafter. They said I should have the airbag by labor day. I did not receive any notice of my airbag being available by labor day. The NHTSA site says it's available. How do I get BMW to install it if they keep telling me it's unavailable?

Takata recall on the NHTSA.gov site my car shows recall incomplete in red. Per the safercar.gov sit, this means that my parts are available. The dealership said they do not have the parts. Is the information on the site incorrect that these would be ready? I am confused about the information as rpesented on the sites. I am most concerned due to the age of my car. 2 complaints: 1st complaint addresses "takata recall" dated Feb. 5, 2016 recall campaign no.16V-071 driver's front air bag. Service center "otto's" in West chester, pa still has not received the parts going on 2yrs. * 2nd complaint engine shut off while driving (55mph) on a busy interstate highway during heavy traffic with no warning the engine just shut off- no power!. it was a humid summer (July) morning BMW fault could have killed many, a very dangerous public safety hazard. I was stranded for hours unable to drive BMW. *adding insult to injury the high humidity could have set-off the airbag fault unresolved by BMW 18 months & counting. Otto's service center wanted almost $4K to repair plus an additional hefty sum under advisement for repairs to repair the work they completed less than a year ago (>$3K) for engine leaking oil - car over-heating

The front passenger occupancy sensor in the seat mat has malfunctioned which produces a fault in the passive restraint system preventing the passenger side air bag from deploying in an event of an accident. This malfunction occurs when the vehicle is stationary, in motion, on a city street, on a highway, and when turning. There is no damage or excessive wear and tear to the passenger seat. The passenger seat was used normally and as intended by the manufacturer. I believe the seat mat was not designed to withstand normal usage of people sitting on it. Over time the sensor in the seat mat failed and poses a serious safety issue for the vehicle's front passenger since the air bag may not deploy during a collision.
