This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The stability system engages and disengages on its own. I have seen several fourms and reports as to people having the same issue. Happens at least 1 time a day but usually several times a day. When you are driving down the road (which is the only time it physically engages it) the stability system warning like comes on and says to service stability system and the system will engage on it's own. This is extremely dangerous as when this happens the car applys the brakes on it's own and they get alot of vibrations and it pushes the car left or right from the front end, almost got into a wreck and would love for a recall to me published for this because this is a serious safety concern.
So many rusted frame complaints should have warranted a recall. In my case a frame should not have rusted badly in less than a year. Many even show on you -tube trying to fix rusted frames because no one is listening. Underbody coating actually should have been added. Thin sheet metal sections are the worst parts.
Driving straight down a two lane road immediately started losing power. The tc light and engine light came on and stayed on. Also, the stability system check came on. Try to reset but tested it according to manual and as backing out of driveway the lights come back on and stay on. Purchased vehicle in April 2017 and one thing after another seems to happen. How do I know recalls have been fixed? when on look up on NHTSA shows there are no unfixed recalls but I believe they've never been fixed. Also, after rainy days if you lift up tailgate water comes pouring out.
Stability traction control and anti-lock brakes and check engine light will not go off even after computer module wheel bearings 02 sensors were changed while driving on local city streets in mount vernon NY while turning the anti lock brakes engages and makes the brake pedal shake and the steering wheel gets tight this has been happening for about 2 years now and ongoing

2004 Srx stability sys ready comes on and the steering pulls left or right ABS light, brake light, comes on no one seems to know what it is or what to do help
I have a 2004 Srx AWD. I always get the "stability system engaged" message with some vibration and vehicle rear side goes left side and after little time its goes away. Sometimes when I step on the brake I would get a grunting sound then the "griding" from brake pedal. It happens on when vehicle speed is more than 40 mph & few times I almost hit another vehicle in other lane.
Constantly, constant problems. Every time I turn around this car is stalling, the stability control light and traction control and ABS lights come on, slowing acceleration and causing safety issues. There are times when I see the dic message board blinking and the car acts as though it is going to stop. These issues listed on this site from all these people needs to be investigated before someone is hurt or killed. I am now writing to Cadillac because the issues are getting out of control and I am afraid for my and my child's life. I am moving forward to seek out an attorney for a lawsuit this is ridiculous.
Even the slightest bump in the road sends the vehicle swerving. The whole car rattles. When trying to accelerate it hesitates before going, same with decelerating. Even when in residential areas and flat surfaces.
I bought the Srx used in September and since then I have had one issue after another. If I accelerate too quickly my transmission, (I think), has a very loud ratcheting/popping sound. My service suspension system error msg comes on every time I start my vehicle. I have read that this could be related to the air compressor not working or faulty sensors. My service stability system error msg also comes on every time I start my vehicle. This seems to cause the traction control feature to mess up, which then on occasion when I press my brakes, even slightly, my brakes lock up and I skid for just a second. My power steering fluid seems to continually leak or the pump is bad. I have refilled my resovoir many times and I constantly have a very loud "whining" sound. My power steering system also seems to go out occasionally and my vehicle is very difficult to turn.
The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Srx. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle vibrated, the wheels seized, and the electronic stability control warning light illuminated. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the stability sensor at the end of the steering column and a sensor in the rear passenger side wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 146,152. Updated 08/03/16 the consumer stated while driving home, the vehicle made a hard left, causing him to violently go into an uncontrollable skid. When he hit the brake, the vehicle vibrated. Updated 08/10/16.
Since Oct. 2014 I have had issues with the"stability system" to be serviced yet it works"?" the hood hasn't ever stayed up which had been a pain being starting a couple months ago the battery starting having issues in the cold weather. Something is draining it and I don't know from where.
Service theft system came on one day and it wont give me the key back I have to take it out manualy also wont read miles, temperature, fuel and sometimes while on the road it will die completely, it reads service theft system and service stability
Power steering engages on its own and causes problems when I am turning into traffic. There is a problem with the power steering pump that is causing it to turn only when in motion and it is still hard to turn.
The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Srx. While driving 65 mph, the stability control system engaged and the vehicle begun to fishtail. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
At any speed and at least 100 times or more, the vehicle stability control activates and causes the vehicle to pull to the left. At freeway speeds it can be a very strong pull to the left and it also makes a noise. The dealer doesnt seem to know why. When the stability system kicks in at 60 to 70 mph and it pulls to the left so hard it it is dangerous, it also makes a sound but I dont know what the sound is. It is dangerous as I have to correct for the sudden pull to the left. I also researched this on the internet and found that many people are having the same experience as me. I believe that there should be a recall on this problem and it should be solved. If this rapid pull to the left gets any worse, I believe it is possible that it could cause a wreck or roll over due to over correction of the pull to the left. Please investigate this problem.
The stability system engaged message displays as I am driving. At first it was only at speeds over 45mph. Recently it comes on at any speed during any road or weather conditions. When the message appears the car sways as if a gust of wind is blowing the car. At times I hear a grinding noise as well. I have almost lost control of the vehicle when this happens and I am driving on the interstate at speeds over 60mph. Once the message appeared as I was applying the brakes and there was a deep grinding noise and feeling. The movement the car makes when the stability system engages makes the vehicle very unsafe to drive. I have taken the vehicle to 2 different repair shops (one being an authorized Cadillac dealership) 3 different times, spent over a thousand dollars in repair attempts, and no one seems to have an answer how to fix the problem. The car is unsafe to drive with such unpredictable conditions. There has to be an answer to this potentially fatal defect on this vehicle.
On several occasions the stability system has engaged on its own, causing my car to brake on its own and swerve and skid to the right and left, brakes shudder and goes from 70 mph to 30 in a few seconds... it has happened at different speeds in different climate conditions. The message on screen says stability system engaged, then traction engaged, which I have turned off. I brought my car into a dealer after the first experience and they replaced the stability system sensor, at a cost near $600 to me! a couple weeks went by with nothing wrong, we moved across Texas and now its happening daily!!! the dealerships don't know what is wrong and 'havent heard any complaints like mine', which I find very hard to believe after reading the complaints listed here and in other blogs/websites!! this is a very dangerous problem that GM really needs to fix, I drive my kids around in this car and depend on it to get me to and from work safely not veering me off road possibly causing a major accident!!! I like many other people work hard to pay my car note and cant afford $600 'fixes' that dont fix!!!

Service ABS on display, traction control off, and service car soon all on display.
