While sitting at a friend's house on a hill my brakes went completely out once I hit them they went to the floor and we eended up hitting a tree stump that saved us from going off a steep cliff to possibly hurting each and everyone of us in the car.

The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that the transmission engaged the traction control independently and the vehicle would brake and drive at the same time. An abnormal screeching sound was heard when the failures occurred. There were no warning indicators illuminated; however, the message "stability system engaged" appeared. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to ed bozarth Chevrolet (5501 drexel road, las vegas, nv 89130, (702) 948-8011), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 123,000.

I have a 2004 Srx AWD. I always get the "stability system engaged" message with some vibration and vehicle rear side goes left side and after little time its goes away. Sometimes when I step on the brake I would get a grunting sound then the "griding" from brake pedal. It happens on when vehicle speed is more than 40 mph & few times I almost hit another vehicle in other lane.

Constantly, constant problems. Every time I turn around this car is stalling, the stability control light and traction control and ABS lights come on, slowing acceleration and causing safety issues. There are times when I see the dic message board blinking and the car acts as though it is going to stop. These issues listed on this site from all these people needs to be investigated before someone is hurt or killed. I am now writing to Cadillac because the issues are getting out of control and I am afraid for my and my child's life. I am moving forward to seek out an attorney for a lawsuit this is ridiculous.

I bought the Srx used in September and since then I have had one issue after another. If I accelerate too quickly my transmission, (I think), has a very loud ratcheting/popping sound. My service suspension system error msg comes on every time I start my vehicle. I have read that this could be related to the air compressor not working or faulty sensors. My service stability system error msg also comes on every time I start my vehicle. This seems to cause the traction control feature to mess up, which then on occasion when I press my brakes, even slightly, my brakes lock up and I skid for just a second. My power steering fluid seems to continually leak or the pump is bad. I have refilled my resovoir many times and I constantly have a very loud "whining" sound. My power steering system also seems to go out occasionally and my vehicle is very difficult to turn.

The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that the front and rear brakes made an abnormal noise. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who replaced the bearings, cvc joints, a rotor on the front driver's side, and two rotors in the rear. Months later, the abnormal noise returned. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic who was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. The contact was unable to determine if the vehicle was included or excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 04V151000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The contact was to check with the manufacturer. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

Hood hydraulics bar doesn't stay up on front.rear hydraulics hatch door doesn't stay up. Brake line is rotted yet was garaged for most of its life.caddy repair noticed this. Front and rear differentials are bad.they are leaking.brought it in because of the noise to mechanic and too costly to repair. Extended warranty was useless. They didn't cover it although it states they cover differentials if... loud noise on acceleration. Very costly repairs and dangerous.

In march2013 I almost had an accident because my brakes would not stop the vehicle, I swerved over to the side and hit the curb a bit. I bought the car in Feb 2012. It always had the system balance light to come on so I decided to take it to see what was wrong with it. I took it to General Motors in omha nebraksa 114th Dodge street. They test drove it and said they did not find anything wrong with it except that I needed new rotors and brakes. I told them about this recall and how my brake problem falls into this and they said they looked up my VIN number and that it was already fixed. I said well this needs to be done over because this could potentially could cause an accident. They explained that my brakes needed to be fixed. I disagree here is the recall infor which certainly is what is happening to my car. I don't even have to touch my brakes for the computer to take over the car and cause it to go off balance and cause swerving service brakes, hydraulic:antilock:control unit/module recall number: 04V151000 recall date: 03/29/2004 problem summary: On certain passenger vehicles equipped with all wheel drive, the antilock brake system (ABS) may improperly temporarily isolate the driver from the foundation brake system for a maximum of 1.25 seconds. Consequence: This can cause in an increase in braking distance, which could result in a crash. Corrective action: Dealers will reprogram the ABS traction control system controller. Owner notification began on May 10, 2004. Owners should contact Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. The manufacturer first notified owners of this recall on 05/10/2004. This recall affects vehicles manufactured between 03/01/2003 and 01/31/2004.

On several occasions the stability system has engaged on its own, causing my car to brake on its own and swerve and skid to the right and left, brakes shudder and goes from 70 mph to 30 in a few seconds... it has happened at different speeds in different climate conditions. The message on screen says stability system engaged, then traction engaged, which I have turned off. I brought my car into a dealer after the first experience and they replaced the stability system sensor, at a cost near $600 to me! a couple weeks went by with nothing wrong, we moved across Texas and now its happening daily!!! the dealerships don't know what is wrong and 'havent heard any complaints like mine', which I find very hard to believe after reading the complaints listed here and in other blogs/websites!! this is a very dangerous problem that GM really needs to fix, I drive my kids around in this car and depend on it to get me to and from work safely not veering me off road possibly causing a major accident!!! I like many other people work hard to pay my car note and cant afford $600 'fixes' that dont fix!!!

My wife was driving her 2004 Srx with only 70000 miles. She was traveling at 65 mph when the brakes suddenly started activating and the car swerved to the side almost causing an accident. The error message displayed was service stability on the console. After she told what had happened, I went on the internet and found that too many owners of 2004 Srx experienced the same problem. The dealer ended up replacing the sensor on the steering column. From reading and experiencing this problem I wonder how long will it be before someone gets seriously hurt. I think this problem justifies looking into because it is occurring too many 2004 Srx (edmunds.com has a lot of complaints).
