Takata airbag deployed and impacted accident.. my vehicle was moving when I was hit and airbag deployed. I've since had 2 unsuccessful back surgeries and I continue unceasingly to receive medical treatment. I am disable retired. There is a Washington DC police report, pictures, insurance claim paperwork, investigation etc. There is a box of paperwork. To much to upload, but I can gather the info and forward to an address provided to me. This website stated do not include personal information so my email address is [xxx] for future. Reference..I just happen to see a commercial on tv a few minutes ago about the airbags so I have to gather some requested info. Like the exact date. I know it was in 2010, so I'm simply putting in a date filler until I can look up the exact date.. I believe my first surgery was in September of the same year. Do I need to contact an attorney or do I need to contact takata? I don't know what to do next. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The vehicles governor shut the vehicle off at 97mph while going around a corner which made the steering wheel lock up and made the brakes not work. Two people where life flighted to hospitals with various injuries... no air bags deployed at all... the first impact in the accident was to the side of the vehicle. Injuries sustained included multiple fractures of the spine of the driver from being ejected almost 40 feet passed where the truck had come to a rest. The debris path was over 150 ft. Long and the truck left the road because it could not turn then struck a stop sign and totally uprooted the stop sign including the cement cinder block under the ground which sent the truck in a death roll. Then the truck continued forward into a utility poles guide wire which dropped the pole on top of the truck as well as the wires. Then continued forward some more in which it came to a rest against a cedar tree.

About 18 months ago the airbag warning light in my 2002 Avalanche illuminated and has remained on since. I have the Avalanche in the shop for other work and asked that they check the cause of the steady airbag warning light. The diagnosis is that the electrical contact system within the steering wheel is inop and that all airbags in the vehicle will not deploy. Cost of replacement part(s) is about $700. As far as I know at the moment the impact sensors are functional.

I had an accident on the hwy in Georgia, the steering was hard to control/lock, the tire sled, was rust and corrode on structure, brake area, wheel area, frame, tire broke off, almost flipped and was hit from the back, and twice in the front after slamming into a cement divider and the air bags didn't deploy at all, I injured my left side, neck, back, and hip. Blessed that my pregnant daughter in her 8th month wasn't in the truck with me. I had done multiple repairs on the fuel tank, tire rod, knock sensor, ABS brakes, running board, brakes, rotors, etc, and was told that the rust on the frame won't effect the trucks performance and it was safe to drive because everything is attached to the frame good. I almost lost my life and two of us got injured. If these trucks are having and been having these issues- why do they just pull all of them and give people other options.

Recently my 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche has begun to shut off while driving which causes the vehicle to lose power. Another important safety issue, the brakes began to press all the way to the floor while braking. On August 3, 2011 while my son was driving the vehicle approaching a stop light, he pressed the brakes which went to the floor and rear ended vehicle in front that was making a turn. The front bumper is now damaged ( T-boned) and the air bags did not deploy. I'm not very pleased that I never received any notices about the braking system. I can't afford to make monthly payments and still have to pay costly maintenance fees. I can not afford to jeopardize my life and my family, especially my granddaughter. Something has to be done about these safety issues: Braking, cutting off while driving and no deployed air bags.

: the contact stated while driving 25 mph, the air bag light illuminated and the air bags deployed without incident. The sudden deployment startled the driver causing the vehicle to leave the road and hit a light pole. The pole was impacted with the front of vehicle and there was no braking prior to the impact. In fact the contact thought the accelerator pedal may have been depressed harder, as a result of the shock. Although seat belts were worn the driver sustained injuries. A police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the insurance company deemed the vehicle totaled. The dealer offered no explanation as to why the air bags deployed. I went off road at 45 mph airborn struck a very large tree which caused vehicle to roll over violently landing on its top. No air bags deployed, both my wife and I were ejected from the seat belts onstar was not notified. I noticed brakes acting strange just before leaving the road, they didn't slow the vehicle and didn't "click" like antilock breaks should. Vehicle was a total loss, windshield and drivers window broke, severe buckling of hood, passenger side pushed back to the tire, frame torn in several areas, duct and lower dash area displaced, SDM was downloaded showing incomplete data, SDM data does not support the amount of damage and know facts. My wife had to be airlifted to trauma cntr with serious injuries, my injuries were put on hold so that I could be with her.
