This issue is the 2nd time it occurred in my truck. When the problem happened in 2011, I had my truck for 2.5 years and only 33,000 miles on it. I almost missed the 36 month warranty. Although I was disturbed by this problem (I bought a Chevy truck because of its strong reputation of durability), I was relieved that I had time left on the warranty. I thought this was an isolated issue, however, I have recently found that this is a problem with numerous GM vehicles, namely Avalanche, and other related vehicles. The dealer had my truck for about 12 days. Now I will be doing the job (I am a tech) myself 7yrs and 96,000 miles later. Of all the vehicles I've owned, I never had a camshaft go once, let alone twice. This is recall worthy as it has happened so much over the years.
