The problem started last year, I was driving on the highway and when I had pulled off at my exit moving from a dead stop from 1st to 2nd the transmission did a hard shift. It only happened during the summer and only after highway driving.
The fix is not a transmission rebuild if you catch it early enough. It's the Torque Converter Control Regulator Valve (TCC Regulator Valve). When this goes bad it will cause the P1870 code. You do not need to replace your valvebody, you just need to replace the TCC Regulator valve. It's not an expensive part (around $30 - $40), the problem however is you need a special reamer that is only designed for this fix and the cheapest on I found was on Ebay for $126, with shipping it came out to be $141.
If you want to do it yourself the reamer model number is: 77754-R2 made by Sonnax.
