Wow, sad to see others having the same problem, with the shifter not coming out of park position. My 2005 Corvette has 16k miles. Mainly stored in garage due to water leaking on the drivers side which had a recall, but dealer said it was a leaking windshield, glass company checked out & found no leaks. So I only drive with no rain on the radar & when I can get the shifter out of PARK.

Corvette Z51 6.0L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 66,487 miles

Sometimes if I'm parked or I put the shifter in park at a traffic light, oh its trouble! It might take a while to get it off park. The shifter stays stuck and the button on top of the gear does not respond after repeated clicks!

Corvette 6L/ V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,992 miles

The reason I have only 11992 miles on the car is because I currently cannot get it to go into drive. It sits there collecting dust! If it does shift occasionally, my wife refuses to go with me for fear of getting stuck in a parking lot anywhere else. So it just sh*ts in the garage! This is a problem it has had since 2010.

Corvette Coupe V8

  • Automatic transmission

Purchased my 2005 Corvette in 2009 with 28000 miles and discovered almost immediately that the shifter will not come out of park quite often (almost every time). It now only has 43000 miles nine years later partially due to this aggravating defect. I have also spent $1000 on having the crank pulley replaced (also a defect that Chevy should take care of) due to wobbling and belt squeal. These cars should not have these types of issues and not corrected by GM. I will never purchase another Corvette. I have three (C5 with multiple electrical issues) and a C3 which is too old to be total crap!!!!!! Very disappointed in GM in not stepping up and taking care of these issues.

Corvette

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles

This is obviously a serious problem that Chevrolet has failed to address. I was very surprised to discover how common this issue is and VERY disappointed to see that Chevrolet has never issued a recall nor provided dealers with clear directions on a successful fix. Corvettes are a classic car and this type of issue can destroy the brand image.

Corvette

  • Automatic transmission
  • 66,000 miles

My 2005 Corvette w/automatic trans often gets stuck in park. I know that this is a very common problem and I am told that this is caused by a solenoid not firing to release shifter from park. Because of this, I feel that it is absurd for the dealer to want $800. to replace the shifter when some microswitch may not be doing its job. I hope that GM is offering some resolution.

Corvette V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,353 miles

Called a couple chevrolet dealers and they say they don't know about this problem. How could they not know about their own cars? So many people have this same problem; can't shift out of park. It's like a hit and miss whether or not you can drive the car. Can't believe they don't want to stand behind their cars. I won't be getting another Chevy anytime ever!

Corvette V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,500 miles

My 2005 Corvette only has about 46,000 miles on it. It is kept in the garage and I try to take good care of it . Now I hate driving it because it is likely to leave me stranded if I can even get it out of the garage . It used to be far and few between that the shifter would not come out of park after I started the car. Of course back then when I took it to my mechanic he could not duplicate the problem . But now it is guaranteed that every time I drive it , I am going to have the gearshift get stuck in park . I will not even drive it at night time for fear of getting stranded somewhere . I only drive it locally where I know I have family that can assist me or that towing it won't cost an arm and a leg . I have seen all of the complaints of other 2005 Corvette owners that have the same problem , I can't believe this is not considered a recall issue yet .
