First time I filled the gas tank over 1/2 full, the car was filled with gasoline fumes. I checked with my GM dealer and they said it is a known problem, however it was never registered as a RECALL. Though GM discontinued the original replacement part with a re-designed part, they only gave it an extended warranty which expired in 2017. Now I am stuck with a major cost to repair something that is a dangerous fire hazard.
I never received notice of this defect because it was never treated as a RECALL. It should have been, because this is an extremely dangerous defect that could result in loss of life. To only treat this as an extend warranty issue was negligence on the part of GM because of the possibility of loss of life and personal injury due to the poor design.
