I stopped the car with the engine running, in Park, for about 1 minute and then when I went to shift it into Drive, with my foot on the brake, it would not come out of Park. After a few more unsuccessful attempts to shift into Drive I turned the car off. I then restarted the car and after 4 more attempts it then came out of PARK. The people at the drive-thru behind me were not too happy.
I noticed that on this and other sites, that this is a Frequent Problem with Corvettes. It seems to me that a safety recall is in order as this problem could easily strand a person in a dangerous situation.
Update from May 29, 2018: I brought the car to my local Chevrolet dealer who changed the following parts:
1. Replace shifter $431.97
2. Control 243.95
3. Knob 151.25
15% off coupon ( 187.24)
4. Replace shifter cable 364.47
5. Cable 56.66
6. Misc. 34.92
TAX 76.73
TOTAL $1,172.71
