Had this problem fixed before under warranty, parts are under warranty for 2 years, both have been replaced, then 2 years 1 month according to Al Serra chevy dealer both sides broke at same time I fine remarkably coincidental the car was no longer under warranty, but seeing that these had broke before they should have been replaced at GMs cost.
They want to charge me $1500.00 for a car that is worth about $6000.00. Having contacted GM and Chevy, they both basically told me I was screwed. Basically I have to assume they will break again in 2 years at a cost of $1500.00 and Al Serra told me the car may not start if I don't get it fixed. Which is telling me is a very poor design and/or placement of these parts, they are totally exposed to the elements in the rear bumper, if you live in 4 season states you are screwed.
Being a GM retiree and having worked for them for 32 years in Flint, MI if this problem is not resolved at their cost I will guarantee I will never buy another GM product.
