Paint has peeled off driver rear panel. Starting now on other side same area. I purchased this vehicle in Jacksonville, NC. I love my vehicle but can't stand it peeling and looking so bad. Took it back to the dealership where I purchased it new from and they wanted to charge me to paint it in 2014 It is down to the metal and keeps on peeling more and more. I don't know what to do I was told this was caused by neglect which this is so not true I had always kept my vehicle garage kept. What do I need to do?

The paint peeled off in November 2013 at five years old. I bought this vehicle brand new. I was called a liar by the Auto repair manager at dealership. I went to owner of dealership. It was egg shelled from from front windshield to back of vehicle, even in door and hatch jambs. They only fixed the one spot that peeled Last year I was told to bring vehicle back and they would fix it, and I got a call that it would be 400.00. It was proven three years earlier by some piece of equipment they used that it was the eco something or other, like primer, that the paint was not adhering too!!!! I am so angry. I am still fighting this with dealership. My car looks horrible.

I purchased this car from the dealership in Jan 2009. It only has 33,000 miles on it and the paint above the rear passenger window is falling off in big flakes leaving bare metal. The dealership said they would repaint the quarter panel for $1,600. I know I am not the only consumer with this problem. I have looked at other sites online and it appears to be a manufacturer defect. Apparently, if it's not causing injuries that would result in lawsuits, a recall isn't issued.

Paint chipping off to the grey primer on the section in between the roof rack & the top of the back doors on the drivers side. (about 2 feet long at this point) Also starting the same process in the same area on the passengers side. (about 1 foot long on the passenger side at this point) just wondering if it will continue to progress until the whole car goes from "metallic navy blue" to the horrible, noticeably different grey primer!!

paint is chipping

One day a bubble appears on back window panel of my car, next day paint just pops off. You can see it will also happen to the other back panel and hood in time. I took it that day to be looked at, I was quoted $1,000 to have entire car painted. I was also told this was a defect and should look into it first.

I contacted GM Corporate to complain. Not wanting to go into great detail in the way I was treated ,and how long it took to get a response. I will say I felt like I was speaking to a robot that acted as if they would do me the great favor of going 50/50 on cost. Of course the Chevrolet dealership by me quoted $ !,400 for the two back panels when I mentioned the hood was also bad, I was told that would be additional. Who knows what's going to happen to the paint on the rest of my car down the line. They just inflate the price and treat me like their doing a favor and my car would only be partially painted.

Was given the impression my car was the only one. My friend saw another Equinox on the other coast with paint missing exactly in same place as mine. She took pictures. Tonight, I got on this website to find a complaint by someone else for exactly the same thing. Obviously this is a defect and should be taken care of 100% by Chevrolet. So where does one go from here, any suggestions.

This is a defect in the paint on the Chevy Equniox that the manufacturer should repair. It is very well known and common and is not the cause behind any misuse of the vehicle, it is a complete defect by the manufacturer who is not standing behind their workmanship.

One day the paint is there, the next day it is laying on the ground. I have never seen nothing like it. I took it to the body shop they say it is a factory defect. Paint is all the way to the metal. I do have pictures of it on my phone. I was told if I went to a car wash that much more is going to peel off. I just really don't know what to do. Please help me. I thought about talking to a lawyer and having 19 Trouble Shooter do a story on it. I have been doing a lot of research. There are a lot of cars and suvs in 2008 with the same problem I was told there is no recall,,,,,,
