I have had this car for 6 months, It's a pain in the butt and I just don't have the money to fix it right now. A couple of days ago I started getting a warning light popping up saying service track control. Has any one else had this problem and what did you do?

Thanks to information I found on your website, I was able to give the dealer the Service Bulletin number 10250. He discovered that since I had less than 120,000 miles and it was under 10 years old, it could be replaced free. I was told originally it would be $268 to replace one spark plug, but they ended up replacing all 6 spark plugs and wires free of charge. The vehicle was hesitating especially going uphill or after hitting bumps. I thought I might have had water in the gas at first. It started just after my oil change and NY State inspection.. literally on the way home from that service work.

Equinox LT 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,000 miles

37000 miles and now the engine is sputtering, hesitating when accelerating... I tried changing the air filter, did not help. I read on a web site about the issues of these cars having this problem. I replaced the spark plug wires... they are more like coils to each spark plug and a pain in the ass to get to... the last 3 wires that are behind the engine are not easy to get to. I had to go under the car to get to and had to feel my way for each spark plug to replace each wire/coil. What a poor design... the manifold is about half and inch away from each plug wire/coil... no wonder these wire/coils are not holding up.

I replaced the original wire with AC Delco, spark plug wire set, ACD# 746TT, same as GM# 89018131 wire set. They are premium silicone 7mm wires that are about 1 inch shorter then the originals. They worked and so far so good... no hesitation... $120 and busted up knuckles later, but no hesitation.

This car has a hesitation when ever it feels like it. It doesn't happen all the time and it can happen while accelerating or while i'm already driving. Replaced all the spark plugs and it helped for a minute but then just went back to doing the same thing.

Driving on the Highway and the engine started sputtering and grumbling rough. the check engine light was on then blinking. hit the onstar button they said don't drive when check engine light was blinking so we remembered about a letter in the mail they recalled the spark wires (low insulation). the dealer replaced the wires and plugs free but boy did they try to sell us on a 2012 suburban I like Chevy's so my opinion is bias. good luck

Equinox LT 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 81,139 miles

When I get on the highway, the car stutters and starts putting. Its like the transmission cant keep up with the engine. I just purchased the car on 6/6/2012 and to have to put it back in the shop on 6/7/12 is very discouraging. I haven't even made a payment yet and haven't drove a complete day yet. Any advice or recall information will be greatly appreciated.

No problems til now, and loved the car, but at highway speeds car stutters or hesitates on acceleration, around 2000 RPM. Feels like transmission is trying to find a gear, or engine is going to die. Holding accelerator steady, car bucks a little, then settles down. Not evident at lower speeds on local streets, more noticable with a slight up grade.

I really hesitate about going to the dealer, which is usually inconvenient and expensive, but maybe this is beyond scope of my local gas station mechanic. I read could be spark plug wires?

Equinox LT 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

I recently received a letter from chevy about this issue.Stating that some 2008 model year Chevy Equinox vehicles may exhibit rough engine operation and the illumination of the check engine light. This may be caused by spark plug wire boots that do not provide a sufficiently robust dielectric seal to withstand the high voltage required to fire the spark plugs.General Motors is providing owners with additional protection for the spark plug wires. If this condition occurs on your 2008 Chevrolet Equinox within 10 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge.

Equinox LS 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,000 miles

Drove home from work on I-95, and the check engine light came on... Pulled over and shut the engine off. Let it cool off for about 5 minutes and started up again. Check Engine Light did not come on. Next day, I'm driving my nephew and my father around town, and the engine started running rough. No acceleration or anything. Just a lot of me worrying about if the transmission was acting up or whatever since there's no way to accurately know the problem. Took it to the dealership, and they charged me $225 for the diagnostic and the replacement of the Number 3 spark plug and wire. Drove for a month, and the problem occurs again. This time it was the Number 5 cylinder! Refused to let dealership tackle the problem since they ripped me off for ONE freakin' cylinder! Asked my then-girlfriend's son for better quality spark plug wires, and got it a day later. Took the truck to an outside mechanic and discussed the problem. He replaced all the wires for only $150, and I have not had a problem since 2009! Hope this helps anybody who runs into this same problem!

Car started hesitating when accelerating, while getting on to the freeway I increased speed, but the car did not speed up. My check engine light came on and began to flash. I took my car to the repair shop right away. Turned out to be a cylinder 3 misfire - had full tune up - usually not needed til about 100K miles. All was well for about 2 weeks. Yesterday my check engine light came on yet again, took it back to the repair shop, but this time the diagnostic machine would not give a code for the problem. Tried 2 different machines - nothing. Mechanic kept trying but my computer would only temporarily give a signal to the diagnostic machine. He called Chevy to see if this is something they would cover the computer, but of course they won't. Next step is to do wire testing on the car or replace the computers and wires.... $$$$$$!!! I loved this car in the beginning - now I HATE IT!!!!
