Equinox LT 2.4L V$

  • Automatic transmission

My son started complaining about transmission "banging" when he switched gears. Then as he was driving it would just stop accelerating, then it would not go into reverse. We brought it to a mechanic who did a diagnostic and said take it to a Chevy dealer, there are too many bulletins on this issue. So the mechanic would not touch it. Brought it to a Chevy Dealer, who just called and explained the transmission needs to be replaced....$5500.

Called Chevy directly and of course they don't want to hear anything about it. They are calling the dealer to verify that we need a new transmission. What I don't understand is why isn't Chevy recalling or offering to fix this particular Model and Year. It is one of the top 3 bulletins. They have a faulty transmission. A car should not last 65,000, and they want us to buy American, how can you when you hear stories such as this. Can we all get these complaints together and petition to the NHTSA to demand a recall?

Equinox LT 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,124 miles

Three weeks ago the car started shifting roughly from 2nd to 3rd and beyond. Today When I was trying to back out of an alley, the car couldn't move even though it was revving high. All research points to a 3-4-R wave plate. There seems to be a lot of people with similar issues and a recall bulletin, but nothing else.. Why not make it simply a full recall for the 2010 models..!!!??

Equinox LT 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

First of all I took my Equinox to the dealership because it was making a loud noise like if the car was a diesel, turn out to be a crack in the manifold almost 600.00 to get it fix and almost two weeks to get it back, took it back because when I was getting ready to go to work the darn thing didn't have reverse! I had to tow it to the dealership and two days later they told me I needed a new transmission, and 4500.00 to fix it!

I went to pick it up and now it's parked in my driveway because I don't have the money to fix it

It's GM ever going to take responsibility for their poor quality materials?

GM's answer? ''We hope your dealership can fix the problem''!

Thanks GM!

Equinox LT 2.8L

Apparently GM has a major issue with this transmission. All over the internet and of course it happened after the 5 year warranty expires.

Equinox LS 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

no reverse, 3rd gear slipping, no warning no reverse, 3rd gear slipping, no warning no reverse, 3rd gear slipping, no warning

115K miles on Equinox and 3rd gear and reverse went on transmission. At 96k miles the motor was rebuilt under warranty because of excessive burning oil. Now 15k miles later and this.. No dipstick to check fluid, brilliant.

Update from Dec 31, 2014: OK, So I had to have it rebuilt, which cost $2800. ALL the places I called for quotes said that it is a common problem that usually happens while on warranty. It is a wafer washer that breaks and causes a clip to break, then the metal fragments ruin gears etc... There is a new part that is supposedly forged not stamped

I guess I can hope they do a recall to get my money back.

I called GM to see if I can get some kind of restitution if I buy a new car because I dont trust this one at all now. They basically said, oops, sorry, too bad, nope, nothing we can do for you.. REALLY!? You would think at least a fomr letter saying they were sorry, nothing so I traded the lemon in and bought a Jeep, no more GM for me, and I own a C6 vette too
