My lifestyle takes me into wilderness and crossing streams. Easy to lose car key. With every other vehicle that I've ever owned, I've had spare key in wallet and one taped to back of license plate. Never got locked out, no matter what. Now; apparently; all GM car keys are built into remote and they don't offer a spare key with a regular key head. I never would have bought car, if I had known. No one is willing to initiate this as an issue with GM. When I contacted Customer Service, I got the same "can't help" response. Every locksmith either can't duplicate key or tells me to contact someone else who can't make spare keys. It looks like GM has created a monopoly market in car keys.
Has anyone found a solution?
