I was driving to work this morning when I went over train tracks. As soon as I did my "stbilitrak" light came on. All wheel drive turned off as well as ABS. My car would no longer accelerate. I tried to break and nearly lost control of the vehicle. I'm upset with my vehicle. I have had so many problems with it. I have always owned a Chevy, but I think they quality in work is decreasing. I will be thinking about what kind of car I will get next. I prefer Chevy since it's all our family has every bought, however I'm sick of having unexpected problems with it.
Fuel pump/ low fuel issues fuel pump failing, which in part leaks fuel into the engine. Running error codes. Low engine power light displayed on dash followed by reduce power. Dealership advises it's a 900 charge. Certain 2011 Equinox models fall under the product emission recall 43180 high pressure fuel recall. However I am being advised mine does not although issue appears to be consistent with recall at first glance.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled and shut off without warning. Also, while the vehicle was at a stop, it shut off without warning. In addition, at times, the brake pedal traveled all the way to the floorboard when depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed her that her vehicle was burning excessive oil, which caused the engine to stall. The contact drove to ganley Chevrolet (13865 brookpark rd, brook park, oh 44142, 216-586-5804) where the contact was informed that due to the age of the vehicle, any repairs would be deemed pointless. The dealer did not assist. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The manufacturer offered the contact a voucher towards another vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

It only had 42000 miles on it and even before it sounded funny. We had it hooked to diagnostic and it said the intake and exhaust cam shaft actuator solenoids needed to be replaced or faulty. Google it online it comes up as a recall for my year of 2011 Chevy equinix. But when I told them at Chevy service center they were addiment that only certain vins and thats what they go by. But I told them how would you know which ones are affected if your not told by consumers. Online and on different sites come up that some have problems and have recalls. Well om informing them that theres an issue but since its not on their data base or my VIN they will not do anything. The car when driving shuts off sometimes. Or when I start it and begin to drive it shuts off.
2011 Chevy Equinox ticking engine and erratically idles. Runs rough and shifting is inconsistent. Took it to Chevy dealership and they said the timing chain is bad. $1500 repair! timing chains are meant to last the life of the car, these ones are defective. The recall should have been issued years ago. My car has 125K miles. Hate Chevy
I took my 2011 Chevrolet Equinox to the dealership for an oil change. They told me that they wanted to do the oil consumption test because my car was burning too much oil. They told me it was a known issue with this engine and I would most likely qualify for repairs to be done after this test was completed. I had the oil consumption test started and went back every 1,000 or less miles and was told this issue would be covered and everything would be fixed. I followed up every 1,000miles or less. When I went back on December 3, 2018, my car had 71,392 miles on it and had my oil changed. I went back on March 14, 2019, with 73,996 miles on my car, a difference of 2,600 miles, to have my oil changed from December 3, 2017, they told me that my car didn't sound right and they will check into it. I waited to see what this issue was and they the service guy told me he had bad news and my engine was ruined due to the timing chain breaking and ruining my engine. Guy ca car A1,000 miles to have my oil changed and then I was told there was no oil consumption issue so nothing further needed to be done and to come back within 3,000 miles and have the oil changed. I went back on March 14, 2018 at 2,600 miles and was told my timing chain broke and my engine was ruined. Told me they can fix it for $8,000. How would it go from there is definitely an issue with the oil consumption and than no issue at all. I took very good care of my car. It looks almost brand new! how can GM not care that these engines are bad! GM knows this is a big problem and are making every excuse not to fix this. I could have broke down on a highway and caused an accident! how is it possible that GM can't be held accountable! please let me know if you need more information. Thank you.
Stopped at the gas station and the car would not restart. Several times the car died while on a busy highway. When I try to start the car the windshield wipers go back and forth 3 times and all power is there but engine is totally dead. Sometimes after several tries and a few hours later the car will start. I have had 4 mechanics, 3 were dealers, and nobody could tell me what was going on.....and yet I was charged 3 out of 4 times. My husband spoke to 2 street mechanics and both without hesitation said it is the PCM computer. After much research and continued problems I am now ordering a new PCM and installing it myself. There is also a ticking sound which seems to baffle the mechanics. And the car consumes tons of oil. Unfortunately I am seeing that there are so many Chevy Equinox owners out there having these same issues and Chevrolet is not helping. Shame on you Chevrolet!
Regular oil changes at GMC dealership showed high oil consumption. Chevy dealership replaced transmission 2015 under factory warranty. High oil consumption continued. 2018 engine power shuts down car while idling. Took it to my local mechanic replaced transmission. Drove almost 400 miles on "new transmission" ac not working, idles with high pitch sound when fan is running. Now seat belts lights flash and alarm despite seat belts in buckled position. Engine goes to power down /save mode when driving on freeway at 60mph on highway. This power down (reduction) happens stalls and wont drive. Engine continues to shake and rattle after being put in park and removing key (when turned off)

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled on several occasions and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to winter Chevrolet (3750 century ct, pittsburg, ca 94565, (925) 232-0290) where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter misfired, the pistons and head gasket needed to be replaced, and there was no oil in the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 97,700.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving various speeds, the vehicle shut down without warning. The vehicle was able to restart. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to bob bell Chevrolet of bel air (443-692-2111, located at 1230 bel air rd, bel air, md 21014) where the technician recommended an oil consumption test. The contact stated that the test was not completed. The contact also stated that an unknown recall was performed one year ago regarding high oil consumption. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was referred to the epa. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
I bought a 2011 Equinox in may a couple of days after having the car I was hearing clicking noises took back to the dealership they told me it was just the air condition. A couple of weeks later my car started to rock back in fourth when at a light and shutting off while driving. I took it again to the dealership when they told me it was an oil consumption issue and I needed to take it to a Chevy dealership. I took it in they said that I needed a timing chain filed under mu warranty and I paid the deductible. I was then told that it wasn't going to fix the issue stating I needed to bring it back after a 1000 miles and that GM would handle the problem at hand. I then took it back and behind my back they tried to call my warranty company to see if they would pay. My warranty does not cover their problem. Then was told that they would handle everything but I still would have to pay money out of pocket. It hasn't even been 90 days since I purchased this vehicle.
My vehicle has been diagnosed and the timing chain and belt tensioners have gone bad and need replaced but my VIN is not listed under the recall. It's a 2011 Chevy Equinox under the 120,000 mile specification. Knowing my vehicle's history before I came into ownership this was already replaced in 2015 but needs it again already so there's clearly a manufacturer's issue going
Most recently was driving in heavy rain and the windshield wipers just stopped working in the upright position, and visibility was extremely impaired. Had my granddaughter with me, they had to roll down windows to help me get safely off the road. This vehicle has had problems with the fuel system in 2015, air conditioner quit working in 2014, failed oil consumption test in 2016. I bough a new car because in didn't want mechanical problems and this vehicle has had nothing but problem after problem. It is a lemon.
