Bought this vehicle for the fuel mileage. Didn't expect to get 32 mpg but did expect at least 29-30 open road. We have never gotten more than 24 mpg open road, using a full tank of gas for trip. Made many times over the last 6 years. Complained repeatedly to dealership, told could not find anything wrong. Emailed company, no response. We got the same mileage on our Ford Explorer AND GMC Yukon: 16 - 24 mpg, city/highway. Use the ECO system, does not help! No more Chevy's. They lied when we asked each dealer we went to & said it was a legitimate mpg for the car. Could have bought a FORD for this mileage.

Purchased 2011 Equinox gets 23-24 highway at best 17-18 in town at best, been in dealership 6 times, they topped the tank and took it on a flat area and stated they got 30 mpg, I had 3 consecutive gas receipts stating mileage, fill up etc. last 3 tanks 19.9/20/22 all mostly highway. I am calling class action attorneys and start the class action Monday. DO NOT BUY AN EQUINOX THERE ARE MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE 2.4 AND THEY KNOW IT!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to put a reminder in my rear window for any prospective buyer of this car for all to see at every stop light. Chevy still advertises 22-32 what a joke.

Equinox LS 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25 miles

What a rip off - Worst vehicle I've ever owned - I will NEVER buy a GM / CHEV product again! I traded in my 2010 Ford F150 on a piece of crap 2011 Chev Equinox for the sole purpose of saving money on fuel, was I ever mislead. I am barely getting 500 km per tank. After only having the vehicle for three weeks, it breaks down, I took it back to another dealer three times and they rectified the stalling but it still runs extremely sluggish, but the usual "We can't repeat the problem?!". Anyone considering buying GM - do yourself a favor and DON'T.

We were expecting 32 mpg, that was the selling point of the vehicle. Don't know about you, but 24mpg isn't close enough to 32mpg. We have been on long trips 1400miles and short trips 40 miles, we still just get 20 something miles to the gallon. Have used gas with and without ethanol just doesn't make any difference. We feel we were flat out lied to by general motors. Makes a person think about converting to fords!

Update from Dec 26, 2011: We contacted the chevy company, they said to take my equinox back to the dealer for diagnostics. I complied, sat for 1 1/2 hours, they ran the tests, test drove it, and told me nothing was wrong. I was told by the mechanic to drive it, at about 15,000 miles he said it should get better gas mileage. We complained again, a "specialist" has been assigned to our case. She is supposed to call on 12/27/11. We will see what she suggests we do.

Update from Jan 11, 2012: The case worker assigned to our problem made an appointment with the dealership to run yet another diagnostics test. The dealership called and canceled the appointment. We have tried 5 seperate times to speak with the "case worker", We even spoke to her supervisor, she has yet to take our call or return our call. It has been 2 weeks. What do ya think people, should I hold my breath and wait by the phone?!!!

Terrible gas milage. I am getting 18 to 22 miles per gallon. Should be 22 to 32 MPG. Also, the transmission broke at the 610 mile mark.
