Since I bought the car I have had to take it in every other week. The first time I took it in they said it was the head gasket and replaced it. After they repaired it the car continued to have problems. When I'm at highway speeds the car drives rough like a jerking sensation and then the check engine light flashes. This car has had nothing but problems.
P010 code when check engine lights comes on. Problem since about 3 months old. Some were recalled, mine was not. Rough idle, dies when stopping or turning,
Purchased vehicle in February 2018. As of July 2018, my ac compressor has gone out & the service stablititrak warning keeps coming on. This shouldn't be happening 6 months after purchase.
Recall on the front seat there's a recall in the engine area electrical surges there's a recalled beginning of the cranking up part of the car there are more recalls but I am not for sure of the rest
Takata recall. My 2011 Equinox was parked and turned off. I went to get my 2 year old out of the car and the car took itself out of park. I was draged by the door and received many injuries. The car was parked in my neighbors driveway when it began rolling backwards with my kids inside.

Timing belt failed within two years of the first time being fixed. First time was when vehicle was purchased used at approx 123K, second time it has failed is approx 179K. There is an ongoing oil consumption issue with the vehicle. I have heard that there is a recall on the oil issue that was not publically announced and I would like to find out why it wasnt if in fact this is an issue. Timing belt should not fail twice. Took vehicle in to shop after vehicle began shaking violently and jumping while stopped at a light, in drive with the breaks on. When I went to drive, vechicle would drive but had severe loss in poer and was vibrating the whole time. Upon taking to the shop and having an engine diagnostic test done, it was confirmed that the timing chain was indeed stretched out and would need to be repaired at a cost of $2500. This repair had been made two years prior as well, having had to replace the chains and such due to this recurring and ongoign oil issue
My fianc bought her 2011 Equinox used from a local dealer. She bought the 4 cylinder with 2 wheel drive. I think it's the plain edition? anyways it wasn't long after buying it that it started making noises that sounded like the vehicle was going to raddle apart any min. From day one it goes through oil like crazy! it seems like I put more oil in then fuel. Then she was coming home from work one day and the tranny stopped working. Pushing on the gas only made rps go up, like it was in neutral. So we towed it to a transmission shop with a great reputation. It didn't take long for them to find the problem and tell us the bad news. Whole tranny needed to be done and the bill wasn't going to be cheap. It ended up costing us around 3700 dollars after it was all said and done. Few week went by and it happened again. So we brought it back and more needed to be replaced. Thank the liars the shop guarantees their work because they took it for another week. We got it back a right away it was slipping going into 3rd every once in awhile. Once again we had issues with if and this time the guy said he going to order some aftermarket parts instead of using the cheap factory crap! the tranny has worked since then but I know that it's not working perfect either. Since then we have had to dump another few thousand replacing gaskets, the timing chain, and exhaust manifold. Now a new problem just came up and the center dash went blank and nothing works on it. The display is blank, no radio, can't adjust air flow and all interior sound stop making noises. Like the ticking of the blinker or dinging are just not working! we could have the car paid off with the amount of money we sunk in her car!! I hate everything about this vehicul and feel helpless. We still own on the car and I dont think it will ever be paid off before it dies for good!
Had my car for 6 years and changed oil every 3000 miles. Last week it ran out of oil overnight! and now I've been having to put in a quart of oil every 200 miles or so. It could have ceased up my whole engine and ruined it! the engine light didn't even go on to tell me there was an issue. It is like it was a sneak attack and it sounds like this sort of thing is happening to other owners. It should have been recalled when they found this issue. As it is, I'm going to have to have major repairs done to use it at all. Car will be worth less than repairs and it's not even paid off yet.
Ever since I have bought this vehicle it is a lemon. I have all the receipts as well as research that GM needs to recall this vehicle due to safety issues and everyone has the same problem as myself. From the oil consumption and still having problems and even smells like burning causing odor which is very strong, stalling issues where my car has even stopped in the middle of the highway after a new engine was put in, the engine ticking still does and stalling even with new engine put in have video of the sounds it makes that they can't seem to figure out what's going on after all this time and the clattering noise when the car is started. I have contacted GM numerous times because I do not feel safe with me nor my children in this car. With all the complaints online and they still won't recall the vehicle and be concerned for the safety of the customer. I have all my receipts as well as all the research I have done and even the dealer keeps giving me the run around with everything wrong with it and says it's something different all the time just to try and get more money and still having to take it in the shop but this time was told oh it's not safe to drive but yet tried to say it was the tires this time which it wasn't because there is brand new tires on it. So I hate driving this car even to work let alone with my children because I don't know when it will stop again and cause me to wreck or get hit or even the fumes causing problems which they don't need to inhale. GM needs to recall this vehicle because of all the issues I have had and still continue to have and provide me with a safer vehicle. I have already filed with the BBB and will be speaking with state attorney general as well. If need proof of receipts I can fax those.
Chevrolet Equinox 2011 uses excessive amounts of oil. I have to add oil between oil changes. I keep extra oil on hand always. The car makes rattling noise at start up and just doesn't sound good when running. It runs sluggishly. I wasn't aware of the problem. I only had to add oil between changes to my previous car when it was leaking on the ground. I went to have oil changed and there was none on the dipstick. I had no idea. When I add oil the rattling seems to go away for a while. I can't afford to buy another car or replace the motor if the oil consumption causes the need for that.
Stalling out while sitting in drive at red light. Got up for work and turned truck on, sounded very rough. Put truck in reverse and took off and when stopping at a red light the rpms would move on their own, car starts bouncing, motor is rattling, and sometimes stalls out. I have to put the truck in neutral at every light for it to not rock back and fourth. Next day check engine light came out, readings indicated it was the throttle sensor body and the solenoids. I replaced all of these and truck is still running the same, and check engine light is still on. After doing research I have read well over 50 of the same complaint of these vehicles doing the same thing! we need help!
After lifting the automatic liftgate with the key fob it went up and after a few seconds it fell almost hitting my husband. Dates are not approximate. We got the right side fixed and was told the left side needs fixed also is this a recalled item
I purchased this car in 2014 with approx. 80,000 miles on it but was told by the sales associate that this was a great car and a great deal. This car has been nothing but problems. The car has a ticking noise and sounds like a diesel but everytime I took it in to Chevy they told me this is the way Chevy cars sound and that nothing was wrong with it. Finally my engine light turns on and the car will no longer turn on so I have to get it towed and they tell me the intake cam actuator solenoids went out so they replaced it. Then I continue to hear the ticking noise and the car still runs rough and loud but again they tell me nothing is wrong with the car. Once again the engine light comes on and I have to get towed back into town over two hours away for them to tell me the tranmission needs to be replaced. I contacted GM and was told this is what happens when you buy a used car. How rude! now I am no longer under the extended warranty and my car is back at Chevy. They want me to pay for 4 hours of labor to take apart my engine so they can tell me what exactly is wrong with my car but did mention a problem with the timing chain. Are they crazy? these cars are a complete joke. I can not believe that GM would not recall these cars with the extensive issues that so many people are having with them. I mean seriously they should back up their products so people will continue to buy them. If you ask me im sure this car has a problem with the oil consumption which was why I heard the ticking noise and is why the car sounded so loud and heavy like a diesel. They not these cars have a major engine issue but do nothing about it. I still have several years left to pay off this car and am completely upside down. All I want is for GM to pay off this car so I can take my services elsewhere. Drove a Honda with over 200,000 miles before it gave me any type of problems. Very disappointed.
My engine light came on and sometimes when I start to accelerate my car it will just die (even on the highway in traffic!!!). it has happened 9+ times already and some of those times the engine light was no longer on.
GM recalled 590002010 2010 Chevy Equinox over faulty defrosters, I have a 2011 Chevy Equinox with the same issues as described in auto blog dated December 28 2009. It's my feeling that the same parts are installed in my vehicle with the same issue. If this is the case why did not Chevrolet recall the 2011 as well?
I have had issues with my blower motor ever since I purchased this vehicle brand new - every time I take it in it into a certified Chevy dealership the issues is not happening by the time I get there they just tell me "well there is nothing we can do if the issue is not happening" it is the middle of summer and not having air for the first few minutes is horrible, by the time I get close to the dealership it starts working again so not only am I wasting gas trying to get to the dealership but I'm hot or cold while trying to do it... I have never been so frustrated with a vehicle as I am with this one... I literally have to hit a deep pothole for it kick in which makes me think it is an electrical issue but every time I try to get them to do it they just tell be well there will be a fee for diagnosing it even though I have been telling then since 2012 that this issue has been happening sporadically. Even tried to contact GM about it and they said well there isn't much we can do without the issue happening when you get there... that is completely unacceptable at minimum the blower motor should have been replaced if they did not find any issues in the wiring but they refuse to narrow down the issue. The issue normally happens when I first start the car but I have noticed it sometimes struggles while driving as well... so the issue is just getting worse. On top of that - every time I took it in to the dealership they never noted that I had complained about the issue since back in 2012 and finally I made them enter it into the system prior to my manufacturer warranty expiring so I have paper proof of the issue happening before it expired when it would be fully covered.
I bought my 2011 Equinox new in April, 2011. The 5 year warranty just expired April, 2016. I just had to have a new A/C compressor installed ($745) and my car only has 26,300 miles! obviously defective equipment. I contacted Chevrolet and of course they won't do anything because a certified mechanic replaced the compressor and I didn't take it to a certified Chevrolet dealership. I have lost faith in Chevrolet.
