Was literally on the way to change oil. Engine was verry sluggish for days. It started running extremely rough on the way and it eventually clunked out in a parking lot fortunately. Turned but would not run. Low on oil with no sign of a leak. Likely timing chain, Don't buy this car nothing but problems this is just the one that killed it.

Car was drinking oil like I've never saw before. Took it in to dealer and had about $400.00 to fix. Less than a month later, the engine blew. Now the DEALER want's me to buy a new engine for around $5000 to $7000 dollars. There is a recall on this engine, but don't know what you have to do to get satisfaction.

I have had my car in for every recall. They had to almost put in a whole new engine at 58,800 because every thing in it was bad. Now at 78000 the engine blew on the highway at 60 miles per hour I could have been killed. I got to the next exit and turned it off. Had it towed to dealer. The same thing happened with my daughters 2011 Cruz it is history now. And we bought a Honda this time. They know there is a problem with this engine and have not sent out recalls on it and are letting people drive around in these cars. I guess that it will take someone dying to have them step up and get the cars into fix them before this happens again. I was afraid for my life as I was at a really busy part of on the highway and almost got hit more then once trying to get off the highway. I should have let them hit me as I would have got more help from the insurance company then GM. We bailed them out when they were in trouble with our tax dollars and now the don't want to make this right for the consume. GM does not care about you after you leave there dealership and the get your money. It could be the oil consumption or the timing belt which both have recalls that they have not sent letters on yet. What are they waiting for. WILL NEVER BY A GM AGAIN.

Equinox LS 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 103,000 miles

Coldest day of the year. As I pull around the parking lot at work, engine thunks loudly and goes into limp mode. Shut it off immediately.

Blew the engine due to the rear main seal. In retrospect I should have totaled out the car and got a new one. The repair guy said it would be $4000, but as he got more and more into it it had to have new EVERYFREAKING THING. Catalytic Convertor, radiator, used motor, and many other parts...it literally fried itself.

First Chevy (always had Ford's before) and will be my last. No notification anything was wrong, the seal broke and all the oil shot out the back killing the motor.

Subsequently I have talked to several auto shops regarding this car and this incident only to find this is happening a great deal. More than it should ever happen. Chevrolet is responsible for this. I get oil changes every 3000 miles. Shameful, and yep, never EVER again and will tell everyone who will listen to me about this.

2012 Equinox, need engine replaced due to faulty known engine issues by GM. $7k to replace engine. Why would I want to pay that price for the same engine!!!!! GM should be held accountable!!! Not sure what to do!
