A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Day 1:on January 25, 2026 I left home heading north on the highway going 75 MPH, about 108 miles later I notice I went through a 1/2 tank of gas. I then noticed that my RPMs had been running up around 3-4. so I stopped at the gas station, gassed up and back on the road i went.

As I started to speed up the engine light came on and the engine power reduced to limp mode I panicked. i hit the OnStar button to speak with the rep. she named off some codes and asked how the vehicle was driving. my passenger reading the "reddit it" people said it has water in the line that had froze and once it thaws it should be fine to drive again. i was still able to go the 75 but the RPMs were still high. she stated that it is recommended that if you experience these things to pull over. I was still able to finished my 352 mile commute.

Day 2: next day was a terrible snow storm and the city shut down so i took that as a way to stay home and not drive. mine you i got this new car to me on dec 31, 2024 with 104,000 miles. only second owner.

I have kept up with all oil changes. i had just took the car in on November 9th for an inspection as i was driving east to west putting over 1000 miles on it. the dealer said there was a small pebble lodged between the brakes and rotor which he removed.

Day 3: next day I tried to drive the vehicle down the road and it sputtered like it was not getting any gas. so of course i called the dealership service department to set up an appointment. i had to have it towed to them. i have a bumper to bumper extended warranty should cover codes where P0299, P0237, P2227 all things to do with the turbocharge. but was considered environmental not mechanical.

Day4-9: then i reached out to my full coverage insurance because they handle comprehensive (due to nature) was not covered because now they say it is a manufactures defect.

Day 9: i contacted GM. because they have not has enough complains they can not consider this a recall. so mind you this is what they said.

for the equinox years 2018-2022: Due to the cold weather the tubes froze, once the lines thawed there was still moisture in the line. turning on the car the engine sucks the moisture up which then gets into the turbo charger which can mix in to the oil an cause even more issues. so its not a mechanical issue, not an environmental issue, not bad enough to be considered a manufactures recall and lastly after the new car warranty (5 yrs or 60,000 miles) it is a cover out of pocket expense. the tube was made out of cheap material and suggested to use a more durable tube (revamped).

I want to get enough people to complain about this so that they can either release it to be considered a mechanical issue to be covered under he extended warranty or recall it to be replaced for free. Not fair that WE have to fork out $3550 for parts and labor that is not a user error. I'm still waiting on the GM to call me back to see if its anything they can assist me with. this is all because it was cold outside. Michigan got -15 below and over 30 inches of snow in January. my car is parked out side in the elements so how was i to know it would freeze. I'm a ford girl and have never heard of anything like this. but also you see the yrs they are speaking about. 2018-2022, that's covid time frame. wow!!!!! I have also sent an email inquiry to the turbo charger company Mitsubishi asking about the part. its defective. I'm still walking and catching the bus to work because I can not afford to pay for a rental and repairs. the shop still has the vehicle since i have not paid for the diagnostic. that was not covered because no one is claiming responsible to pay for the repairs.

charge air cooler inlet air tube connected to the turbo charger and throttle body.
