1999 Chevy express van. Right and left brake lights fail to operate correctly. Application of brakes causes brake light to dim instead of getting brighter. Problem observed in many Chevy express vans with identical tail lights. Problem traced to corroded ground connection in both tail light/brake light bulb sockets. Advance auto parts and Napa sell replacement wiring harnesses that includes all three bulb sockets. Advance auto parts unit must have the connector reconfigured to match the factory body connector.
While applying the brakes brake lights/turn signals and other electrical system parts failed to come on. Consumer replaced the fuse and bulbs on numerous occasions, but problem recurred. Consumer drove vehicle to dealer for inspection, but mechanic could not duplicate the problem.
