I have had 3 problems so far where my power steering went out. I have contacted two different Chevy dealers and they said that my VIN number is not on the recall list. On the GM website it says that there is a recall on the 2009 Chevy HHR electronic power steering. Because the dealer says my VIN is not included they refuse to honor the recall. I would like GM to step up and take responsibility to repair this issue. I am concerned that I could be involved in a accident because of this issue. media.GM.com/media/us/en/GM/news.detail.html/content/pages/news/us/en/2014/Oct/1007-recalls.html media.GM.com/media/us/en/GM/news.detail.html/content/pages/news/us/en/2014/Mar/0331-power-steering.html.

I was pulling out of a parking space at wal mart and a beeping sound got my attention and then I realized the steering wheel was almost impossible to turn.. I stopped in the middle of the lane and turned the car off... we sat there for about 15 seconds and I started the car again and the steering was fine then.. we then drove about a half mile to the dollar tree and it happened again as I was pulling into a parking space.. I parked and we went in the store.. when I came back out it was working again... then today, Sept. 15, 2014, I pulled into the library and as soon as I started to turn into a parking space, the steering wouldn't work and the beeping sound started and the power steering light was on again.... I turned it off right there and waited a few seconds and it was again working... we don't trust taking this car anywhere and had planned an extended trip to Washington to stay with our granddaughter but we just don't dare do it... this is such a huge safety issue and we want it fixed!!!!! also, the service air bag light has been on for almost the entire time we have owned the car.. I have all the receipts of taking it in to be checked and the charges we have incurred... it has been on the last time for over a month as we had just had it in again.. the light went off for about 20 miles after we left the dealership and then came on and has been on ever since... this whole thing has been ridiculous!!!!!! who can help us"???"

I was making a left hand turn when my power steering suddenly stopped working. The power steering light was on the dash board and vehicle was very difficult to drive. On 09\10\2014 I called serra Chevrolet in madison tn and told a service rep named [xxx] what had happened and what I needed to do to get this fixed. She told me that I needed to call back in a couple of weeks when a new recall was issued. I asked if this could happen again and she replied "its possible." So I asked her what I could do to fix this and she said "well you can bring it to us and pay to have it fixed and when a new recall was issued I could get my money back from them." If they have this part in stock should they not fix it now and not let this power loss happen again? I have to work and I'm very nervous this will happen again without warning. I also never received a recall notice a year ago or I would have had this done then. Thanks information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Loss of power steering was indicated on the dashboard display as well as by a series of dings. Power steering was restored the next time I started the engine. It failed again the next day. It now fails within moments of starting the car every time. I contacted the dealership, but they had no information on when parts would be available for the recall.

Went to leave from friend's house, vehicle would not start.called tow truck, but by the time ( 2 hrs ) I waited car started-up.cancelled tow truck. Next time while making turn, power steering stopped working. It has not worked since approx 05/21/14. Called the dealer to make appointment on 06/03/14. They give me the papers services. And they told me it will probably take between 6 weeks to 7 weeks for them to get the part.I been calling, still waiting for the parts. On another note, I told them about my condition. I have one arm the is very hard for me to drive with out power steering. I had surgery on my left arm. ( a survivor of sarcoma). For them maybe is nothing. I don't want them to feel sorry for me. I just want to fallow the rules, and the promises they make to me. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I have received safety recalls for potentially fatal system failures to my vehicle. I was told by the dealership that there are no replacement parts to fix this issue, and they have no idea when they will have parts. So until then I am to drive this unsafe vehicle, with my family in it and just hope for the best? I tried to purchase another vehicle, as we typically do after 2-3 years of financing, only to find not one dealership will buy it back from me in trade, including the one I purchased it from, due to the major safety recalls. So I am essentially trapped in a vehicle that has already had 2 of the 3 recalls actually occur to it, and just hope the one that can cause a fatal crash, does not also happen.
