problem #7

Lumina Euro 3.4L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 145,000 miles

Car started by overheating occasionally. Took it to a shop, where they replaced a sensor.

Shortly after, it would shudder and die when turning the wheels at low RPMs. Back to the shop.

After replacing the power steering pump, the thing ran like a lawn mower. Pretty sure it was only firing on 3 or 4 cylinders.

Traded it in as a scrap car within a week. Never was able to get it running right,

My car just randomly stalls at red lights or when Im turning. Sometimes it won't do it for weeks and other days it will stall three or more times. I could really use some help does anyone know what I could do to fix this problem? I am going to be moving across the state and I do not want to take my car if it keeps stalling like this. PLEASE HELP!

This 1993 Lumina sat in my Mother-in-law's driveway for a couple of years before she gave to us. Very low mileage (25K), and has driven very well for more than 1 1/2 years. Now we're experience the shuddering of the engine when coming to a stop and then the car dying. It starts right up, but when put into drive dies immediately. Will take many attempts before it will go into gear, but vibrates terribly. Never know when it's going to do this, and there's no rhyme or reason as to why it happens. Any suggestions? We had fuel line cleaned, filter replaced, catalytic converter replaced and new exhaust. Symptoms still persist.

well it started when my water pump blew... and I guess, from what my father tells me, is that the problem is due to the engine parts being wet (throttle, coil, etc.). It has been a few days now, and the problem is still happening. the car starts up fine, but when I am driving, it will put out; a) if I come to a stop, and go to take off again, b) if I am not pressing hard enough on the accelerator, and c) when I am on the highway, it feels as though it will put out if I dont keep the engine at 3000 rpm's or better... I was thinking maybe the altenator got wet... because when I turn on my radio, the car, previous to the radio being on, was not doing this. please help!

Somebody help me please!!! When you put your foot on the gas, it won't take it. The car will sit & idle but won't stay running if you put it in gear. We have replaced the fuel filter. I'm just hoping it's not the fuel pump. I heard these were expensive. Someone also told us to check the vacuum booster brake check valve. What does one problem have to do with the other? If anyone could let me know as soon as possible i would really appreciate it!
