I had the fuel filter changed, the pump, the battery, a tune up and the O2 sensor changed and nothing helped. Still I can start it and go about three blocks and then once I stop it shakes and dies. Then to get it going again, I gas it and throw it into gear.

First noticed that the motor cut right out on major highways; by the time we rolled to a stop, we could start it again. Kept doing this. Very hot day. Changed air filter; Eventually changed gas filter, gas pump, gas pump assembly, but problem persists. Also took gas tank off 3 times to find the pump bent upward at 90 degree angle, and little neoprene hose blown out each time, so was out of gas though it was still half full; also the gas gauge was knocked out by now being sideways. Eventually went to dealer, where they checked out everything, but thought they had the problem when pressure gauge showed only 5 psi from tank; I paid for their time, $93; returned to the mechanic who had originally been paid to fix it to tell him the results so he could fix it as he had already breen paid (though he hadn't known how to fix it!). He put his pressure gauge under the hood as well, and now it read 11psi. What in heck do you do now? ALSO: it will only run for a couple of miles with the GAS CAP ON!! It must be off. At first I had noticed a suction noise when I took off gas cap to fill; Now, after all this, maybe I mistook it for suction. Maybe it was expelling air, I can't be sure. So far I've spent about $900 with new pump, assembly and straightening out pump, diagnostic machine at dealer, etc., without result. I have 11 days before I have a 3,000 trip ahead of me. I'm desperate! Help, somebody, please!! Has anyone else found a solution for these symptoms?? Thanks!
