CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Silverado has no defect trends, which is a very good sign now that it's more than a few years old.
A couple model years back, the 2007 Silverado has an oil consumption defect at low mileage (~50k miles) — so far there's only a very few reports of the same problem with the 2009 Silverado.
The 2009 Silverado received poor side impact ratings on models not equipped with the optional side air bags.

We have the dual control climate control for the AC/heater. In the heat of August, the air conditioner will cool for a little and then just quit cooling. We have tried all adjustments to temperature and with auto on and off. The AC chill emblem blinks on and off when the problem occurs. We took to the Chevrolet dealership for repair. They could not locate problem but thought it could be low on Freon so added Freon for a charge of over $50. This did not solve the problem at all. It is still doing this now into October. Earlier it also would only cool on the driver side and was putting out hot air on the passenger side.
