CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Silverado has no defect trends, which is a very good sign now that it's more than a few years old.

A couple model years back, the 2007 Silverado has an oil consumption defect at low mileage (~50k miles) — so far there's only a very few reports of the same problem with the 2009 Silverado.

The 2009 Silverado received poor side impact ratings on models not equipped with the optional side air bags.

Bougt it 2 years old, and the rear bumper showed surface rust on the chrome and it had what seems to be raylway dust rust on the paint, which I tried to get rid of with polishing wax but no luck!

Silverado 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission

My truck has 70,000 miles 2009 Chevy Silverado 5.3 crew cab. All four doors have rust under the weather stripping on the bottom of the door I wash my truck once a week and always try to get underneath the weatherstripping however after this winter I looked underneath there and noticed some rest call the weatherstripping off and all four doors had rust lots of it. Call the dealership billion motors in Sioux Falls South Dakota they said too bad it's part of our weather in South Dakota you should have washed it more often. I have owned Chevy products for over 30 years I know they have issues of certain rust spots but this is ridiculous. General Motors knows this is a problem and they are not fixing it
