"Exhaust Fluid Quality Poor" message along with the check engine and DEF lights came on again after driving the truck about 100 miles from home. Continued driving on to Fort Worth and the 'Speed could be reduced to 55 mph' message appeared. The next day, on the way to Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine TX the max speed 55 mph message came on after about 10 miles.
Classic (like Westside Chevrolet previously) had not heard of this problem before! Took them 4 days to get parts and fix it! Their work description follows: "NOX Sensor 2 not reading correctly. Test DEF Fluid and was weak mixture. Replaced with fresh clean fluid and ran quality test and failed. Replaced rear NOX sensor and tested fluid. Passed test. Cleared codes and test drove OK." They told me the fluid had water in it. Since the previous repairs in July, the truck had not been touched by anyone but me (and I know I did not add water!) They could not explain how water might have gotten in to the fluid system!
Of course none of the repairs are covered by any kind of GM warranty! I have called the GM Customer Line but so far no help in what might be happening to the DEF system!
