Brake pedal got really hard to press in drive thru. I had this happen before but didn't think much of it as it was a one time deal. Truck did it repeatedly today. Thought my brake booster might be bad. Turns out after researching the problem, I find out the vacuum pump is faulty and gm knows about it but I guess they feel brakes are not all that important. They need to recall this and fix their issue. If it wasn't a faulty part then why would they have discontinued the old part number and replaced it with an updated version? I think that's proof enough this needs a recall. I'm a chevy guy all the way but they are really dropping the ball on this one. I sure hope it doesn't take someone getting hurt or killed before they act.

I had this truck since new (2014) and like 2 years ago my brakes got stiff and didn’t work at all. I almost hit the car in front of me. I went to the dealer when it was still under warranty, they inspect it and said that everything was good. This day I traveled more then usual after work. The truck didn’t do it again because I was working close to the house, but now I'm working like 61 miles away and it does the same deal (stiff brakes) almost every day when I travel slow or backing into a parking spot. Now the truck is no longer under warranty and it sucks because I'm reading these comments and all the people have the same problems and GM aint doing nothing about it. If they knew the problem is often on this models why they didn't fix it when it was under warranty?

Our lease on this vehicle was just up and last month we bought it outright. Two days ago my husband was driving in a dangerous canyon and without warning his brakes went out completely, he was able to switch to manual shifting and downshift enough to pull to the side and call AAA. He was so freaked out, he said his life flashed before his eyes. He could have been killed. Since this was a lease we have had this vehicle has had routine maintenance at the DEALERSHIP. We took it in last month for maintenance and there was no indication of needing brakes, pads OR ANYTHING!!!! Since this incident, TWO different Techs at two different dealerships have both said they have seen this before and there is no current recall????? My husband could have died!!! What if the whole family had been in the car? Needless to say, its not covered under warranty. Its approximately $800-$1000 to repair. BUT what are my guarantees? Can they guarantee that this will never happen again? I'm scared to death for my husband to drive this truck again. I want him to get rid of it ASAP. Had this happened a month ago, we never would have bought out our lease. Seems like unless someone dies nothing will happen. God forbid this happen again. Chevy/GM you are on notice. I am filing formal complaints with the company and every single consumer complaint site I can find. Seems like they want consumers to pay for repairs that are CLEARLY manufacturer defects! I honestly can't believe this happened to us. This isn't something minor! It could have been fatal. If anyone can suggest any resolution to this, please let me know. It doesn't seem like Chevy is going to stand behind its product in this case. Perhaps time to retain a lawyer...
