I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND I NEED AC. I've got a 2015 Silverado Z71 with 53000 mile it has a crack in AC condenser leaked all freon out. I've been on line and this is an on going problem with Chevrolet products. Just hope new condenser doesn't have same problem. GENERAL MOTORS it's about time for recalls on this problem. Chevrolet dealership wants 1050.00 to replace it.

Update from Mar 12, 2020: please disregard my complaint on my Chevrolet 1500 Z71. it was not a crack but a rock that caused the damage to condenser.

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,000 miles

Around early September, I noticed my AC had stopped blowing cold air. Considering it was starting to get cold and for the next few months going into March, the weather was pretty comfortable to where I really didn't need the AC at the time. During those months, I did some research online to find out what the issue could be since my truck is still fairly "new" with low miles and I didn't think it could be any parts that failed on the truck.

Well, much to my disappointment, I came across multiple other Silverado owners with the same issue, same approximate mileage and the same outcome which was having to pay for repairs out of pocket because dealers around the nation were not covering this repair under warranty. My truck is still under warranty and the dealership I purchased the truck at refused to cover the repairs under warranty. With GM knowing about the faulty parts being used in these vehicles and still not doing anything to remedy the issues with existing customers, this is really frustrating.

I thought I was buying a good, reliable truck that was going to last me years and years with no issues. I previously had a 2001 Tahoe and didn't have AC issues until it was over 10 years old, at which time I fixed and drove it for another couple of years until I sold it to buy my new 2015 Silverado. This may have been the biggest mistake I made. I'm seriously thinking about trading this one in and buying me a Toyota Tundra. This may have done it for me and Chevrolet/GM.

I tried using my A/C to find it blowing hot air!! I travel a lot for work and in 2.5 years I have put on 87,000 miles, but that shouldn't be an issue for A/C!!This vehicle has ONLY seen 2 summers!!!

IF GM HAS RECALLED ALL THE A/C PARTS, WHY ARE THEY NOT RECALLING THE VEHICLES AFFECTED!?!?!

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L V8

This appears to be a part/design flaw. The TSB and class action lawsuit against GM/Chevy support the fact that this is a widespread issue. A 37 month old, $50,000 vehicle should not require $1200 of repair. If this was a safety issue, you know there would be a recall.

2544 miles over warranty and the ac is already out. They want $1809.00 to fix the problem. My 2002 Ford F150 ac still works at 98000 miles.
