I have been dealing with transmission issues since I bought the vehicle. There is dirt and sand inside my brake lights, rust under the seats, dirt and rust under the dash, brake calipers are horribly rusted and painted to be covered up by the selling dealership, wiring issues continue to arise and repaired by my mechanic. Trailer brake system is now failing. Steering is having issues now, either bad tie rods or bad cv joints. I have had complete loss of electronic power steering in the past. I suspect this vehicle was in a flood and the dealership covered it up. I have been dealing with this since January of 2019, and I have text records starting April 7th 2019. The vehicle was purchased from a family member's dealership and I bought an extended warranty. They have been less than helpful. Seeking legal help is my last resort.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the steering wheel would jerk and would turn on his own. No warning light illuminated. Own. The vehicle was taken to weir Chevrolet Buick (GMC,1507 S main St, red bud, il 62278) and was diagnosed that the steering gear needed to recalibrated. The vehicle was repaired at the contacts expense. The contact mentioned that the update did not work and the dealer had to recalibrate the steering and informed the contact that it was not part of the of the unknown tsb. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they corrected the issue of the unknown bulletin and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The VIN was not available.
As I was backing out of my driveway the truck suddenly shut off and the steering wheel jerked hard out of my hand. The screens all went blank. I was halfway onto the road when this happened and luckily the oncoming traffic was able to stop in time. I restarted the car and it did it again. It took three times to get the car going. I immediately called the dealer to take it in for service. On the way to the dealer it happened again and prior to the screen just blacked out only then the ac blower fan surged on and off. The vehicle again shut off as I was turning from dual highway to the dealer and the steering wheel jerked out of my hands and the brakes locked. Also when I backed out that morning the rear felt like their was some slippage. I bought my 2016 Silverado used in 2018 with 24K miles on it. The odometer just turned 50K two days ago, so this vehicle has not been driven hard and has always had proper service.I began researching and there are thousands of the same complaint online so I thought there must be a recall. However, the dealer tells me that there is only a "bulletin" and that since I am out of warranty I have to pay for the known repairs needed to fix this issue that clearly GM is aware of. Repairs are over 1300 dollars! I can not believe that GM knows about such a dangerous problem and will not fix it for owners. How many injuries and deaths must occur before a bulletin warrants becoming a recall? I also noted that the previous owner, right before I bought the vehicle according the the car fax took the vehicle for service due to electrical problems. So this was known by GM and dealer when I bought the truck. Deceitful. I have a family that relies on this vehicle for transportation and now I can't afford to fix it or trade it and it is not safe to drive. Help!
Power steering lost temporarily, lights went on and off fast and vehicle dash went black and truck died while turning causing me to hit a car. Moving about 5 to 10 mph

I will drive down the road and the display goes black on dash and I hear clicking sound and truck shuts off. Steering wheel has locked up making turns, left or right. Issues mostly happen when driving extended period of times but has cut off with short trips and parking, backing in. These issues started around Dec 2019 and increased in frequency this year 2020.
I was driving and lost all power I had no lights no steering no breaks and then everything came back on this is very very dangerous research it and there is a lot of people having the same problems something needs to be done
My 2016 Silverado 1500 problems is the along with the loss of power steering, other electrical systems turns off including the radio, driver information center, door-lock cycle, ac and the stability control system. ABS and brake light turn on also hard to turn. Vehicle could be just on or driving around for hours or minutes time doesn't matter it could do it as soon it turn on those problems appear when the stabilitrak light comes on.
Intermittently loses power steering, and makes it extremely difficult to drive. A message pops up and says, service power steering drive with care. Happens most often the first time I use it on any given day. But occasionally happens while driving. It started about a week ago and has happened every day since then.
While setting in a drive thru my steering wheel will jerk back and fourth and then my truck will die. I get several different messages on my dash stability track needs service, window needs rolled down then up, or trailer assist. This has happened multiple times.
Silverardo 2016 1500 pick up truck suddenly lost power steering with no warning. Truck is in fine operating condition, there are no current recalls for steering for this year. Wife was driving. The truck was in motion on the highway exit. Pulled over. I went out to get the truck looked for any issues. Restarted truck power steering worked then failed again after 5 minutes. Drove the truck to a parking lot. Restarted truck and power steering works. While some persons may be able to steer the truck to a safe spot, it is difficult and takes a significant amount of upper body strength to control the vehicle. How do I safely let my wife drive this car? I am worried that this previous defect/issue was not properly addressed by Chevrolet. Thank you
Service power steering came on, car was completely unable to control with zero steering assist. Extremely dangerous almost hit multiple cars turning at low speed. Dealership claims the code C056D but is taking zero responsibility charging outrageous prices for an electrical unit that has failed in less than 70,000 miles.
My 2016 Silverado steering wheel locks up and all of the power in my vehicle shuts off. It only happens when I'm turning but I cannot move the wheel in any direction. This problem is very dangerous and could lead to injury or death. I was almost involved in a head collision this morning because of it. Not to mention that not one Chevrolet mechanic or auto dealer knows what I'm talking about or even acts like they care. This problem has been well documented in older model Silverado's and 2016 Silverado should be included. It's only a matter of time before someone is killed because of this problem and now their is documentation.
1st I notice my info screen would black out and come back on then a service camera message would come on once in awhile. Now every once in awhile the stabilitirak will come on my screen and the steering wheel will jerk violently out of my hand. Very dangerous. Up to this point it has been at slow speeds...(under 30 mph).
This for 2016 Chevrolet siverado ltz D/C 5.3L 4X4 T/A1500 model CK15543 purchase date: 05/26/16 as of the last past year I've experience steering control failure, stability control failure and brake system failure. The truck can not be driven safely. Visit dealer about 10 times and they don't have a clue of how to fix this safety problems. This vehicle is listed under recall by GM and dealer has not been able to fix.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While making a left turn at a stop sign, the brake pedal failed to repsond along with loss of power sterring. The brakes did not engage, causing the contact to sideswipe another vehicle. The contact managed to steer the vehicle onto the shoulder and applied the emergency brake to come to a complete stop. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries reported and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed by roadside assistance to everett Chevrolet Buick GMC (161 us hwy 70 SE, hickory, nc 28602, (828) 393-0876) where it was in the process of being diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The driver's door and front bumper were damaged. The contact's insurance company sent an adjuster to the dealer who deemed the vehicle with needing cosmetic repairs. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 19V761000 (electronic stability control, service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes). First off the brakes have failed on me a bunch of times. I brought it to the dealer before the recalls started and they said it was normal. The problem got worse causing two low speed accidents with no damage but scary. Note I have two kids in the car. Been in for multiple recalls. One accident happened in a drive thru and one in my driveway. Both were front end collisions but no damage. Second the truck shakes at higher speeds.starting at 24mph up to 80. My kids teeth shatter in the back. That's how bad it is. Dealers said there is no fix for that so I started by re balancing my tires and after that didn't work I got new tires. Still have the issue and its more of a headache to bring it into the dealer cause they don't want to fix it or can't. currently on 40,000 miles on my truck and already had a multitude of issues with oil pump failure, steering column replaced due to moving horizontal. Seat issues they couldn't fix so had to replace the bracket and brakes are ongoing.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 55 mph over a bump in the road, the steering wheel shook. When the vehicle decelerated to 10 mph, the shaking stopped. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bob howard Chevrolet (located at 13130 broadway ext, Oklahoma city, ok 73114, (405) 748-7700) where it was diagnosed that the idler arm and steering gear box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,000.
