With 60 K miles on my 2013 Chevy Sonic the car stalls and turns off on me while driving. It has happened several times and still two dealerships aren't able to detect the problem after having the car for three weeks combined. I have submitted a claim with GM but that doesn't seem to be of any help either other than documenting each time my vehicle shuts down.

Sonic Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,000 miles

Shortly after starting engine, it began smoking and jerking. Pulled into dealership immediately. It was the turbo and had gone out. Had it replaced. 32,000 miles later had the same problem, but this time the codes would not diagnose the problem. It won't go over 60 miles an hour and pours smoke intermittently. Allowed my son to drive it and he let it go with the oil light on four days before he told us. Probably a blown engine now, using a quart of oil a day. I don't know if the codes have changed since he did this.

I am starting to have major second thoughts about Chevy cars in general! It hasn't even been three years and so far I have had to replace the: Thermostat Radiator Gear shift Battery and possibly the starter

Since last week it started to stall on me. The thermostat was covered under the warranty because I was still below the mileage for that, but the rest I've had to pay out of pocket. Last week the car started to stall, the mechanic said the battery was the problem. So i changed it but it still has the same problem, which I was told might be the starter too. Is anyone else experiencing or experienced these kinds of problems?

I just recently sent my info to a lemon lawyer, just want to see what my options are because it seems like this car is too brand new to be having so many problems:(
