At low speeds under 10 mph the anti-lock brakes will activate causing longer stopping distance than normal. I checked on recall through Chevy and they say there is none for my vehicle yet this problem is identical to the other trucks that were recalled.

The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the brakes pulsated when depressing the brake pedal during deceleration. The speed at the time of failure was approximately 10 mph. The mechanic diagnosed the failure as low speed ABS activation, in which a recall was issued. The manufacturer stated that the contact's vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN. The current mileage was 57,000, and failure mileage was 55,000.

- the contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe. When driving 10 mph and slower the ABS system engaged, a noise occurred and there was extended stopping distance. The failure was related to recall# 05V379000, service brakes, hydraulic: Antilock. The auto mechanic agreed that the failure was a duplicate of the recall. However, the dealer and the manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 146,700 and the current mileage was 147,000. The consumer has since had vehicle repaired and enclosed a copy of the invoice. Update 05/04/07

I have a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe. There has been a limited recall on the wheel sensor that controls the ABS brake system. I took my vehicle in for the recall but was informed it was not included in the recall. It has the same problems that Chevy's included in the recall. The problem is...sometimes the ABS activates when the brakes haven't even been applied. Sometimes it activates at very low speeds causing longer braking distance. I finally pulled the fuse to deactivate the ABS.

ABS speed sensors are faulty as per a recall on 1999 Chevy Tahoe, GM states that my vehicle is not part of the recall, I went to the dealership, the told me they could lube and clean the parts, then they told me they were frozen and would have to be replaced. Since I didn't have the extra money they offered to unplug the ABS sensors so they would not kick inn. I am not sure how they can guarantee that the parts on my car are not the faulty ones that were placed on the vehicle at the factory.

1999 Chevrolet Tahoe is plagues with activation of the ABS system at low speeds (ie bumper to bumper traffic or slowing to a stop sign/traffic light) when the ABS system engages thedriver has no input to the brakes and the stopping distance is greatly increased leading to possible and likely crashes. I happens intermittantly, but numerous times daily! dealer is aware of an existing recall involving 1999-2002 GM vehicles from my area..but will not cover my $700 for repairs that shoul dbe covered by the recall (NHTSA # 05V379000 wheel speed sensors)

GM re call notice # 05068B - front wheel speed sensor corrosion - multiple Chevy, GMC vehicles; my 1999 Tahoe was excluded from the re call yet had exhibited the same exact failure mechanism; car was un safe to drive as ABS activation occurs without reason and car would not stop; I replaced sensors at my own expense, but GM will not recognize the re call as being applicable to my 1999 Chevy Tahoe. I asked GM service center for coverage on the re call but they refused.

My 1999 Chevy Tahoe 4X4 starting having the ABS system act up starting a couple of days ago. I called Chevy about a recall that is on the website for 99 Tahoe and they said that my VIN number was not in the effected range of 99's. the problem is that at low speeds around 5-8 mph the ABS system kicks on and I can't stop the truck almost getting into many accidents with it. This is a big safety problem now and they wont fix it. Now I need the truck fixed and its doing the same thing the recall states its doing. Its says there was a problem with the wheel sensors. Please help me with this since they won't. this truck is very dangerous to drive now that there is snow and I don't think I should have to pay for something like this. Please help thanks for your time.

Constant activation of ABS brakes due to corrosion between the front hub/bearing assembly and/or the speed sensor being defective. This issue is being addressed by GM on some vehicles but they won't fix mine because they say it's not in the VIN number range. The problem is very real and very dangerous. It started almost 12 months ago, and I was told to wait for the state of Wisconsin to be added to the recall list, they have added Wisconsin but have selected certain VIN numbers only that the bulletin applies to.
