CarComplaints.com Notes: The Trailblazer emerged from an "upscale trim line" of the Blazer, but there's nothing upscale about its transmission problems or its wonky, unpredictable headlights.

2002 Trailblazer has started to fail electrically. Windows not working, heater fan not working, power locks not working, low beam lights not working, transmission went out, paint peeling, rear view mirrors not working.

Car was fine until this year when everything became suspect. Getting to where I am worried every time I drive the vehicle. Engine starting to sound funny and sometimes seems a little harder to start. No one seems to be able to fix the car and the estimate at the Chevy dealer was over $1000 and I am no longer sure that the car is worth that much. Great car for ten years but turning to a real lemon. Get rid of them before they turn 10 or this may happen to you.

The AC/heater blower motor faild at all but two speed settings then those two eventually failed. An estimate from the local dealership for diagnostics and repair, was about $500.00. researching a repair manual made the blower motor, resistor or control modual as potential problems. Because of the nature of the falure, it appears to be the Resistor Assembly. this seams to be a very common problem and easy to fix. $500.00 repair cost is certainly out of line.

Update from Oct 5, 2009: I purchased a new Resitor assembly ( in stock) Auto Zone, for less than $30.00 and replaced it, requiring about 30 minutes and it works perfectly.

The switch only works on setting 4 and 5. Settings 1, 2, and 3 do not work. They were very familiar with the problem and told me it was the resister behind the switch and that it would cost 160.00 including labor. Not covered under a recall of course.

In the summer I require an air conditioner. It would be nice to have one that worked properly. Just seems like every time I get a different vehicle the air conditioner never works as it should. I don't want to be hot in the summer, however the fan only works on 4 and 5 and it can get to cold. I need a happy medium!!!!

The fan only worked on the highest setting. NAPA carries the switch for around $40. You can fix it yourself in about 15 minutes. Check on-line for directions. Not difficult to do, just located in an awkward spot. Do it yourself and save the dealer labor charges.

For this being a newer vehicle, it has a bunch of problems, that I cannot afford to have to pay out more $ to have fixed.

We were living in Arizona at the time and the setting for the dash vents did not work. We took it into a local shop and were informed that the fan was not working properly and that this is a common problem but had not been recalled. They then told us that due to the location of the fan the labor costs would be most of the charge for repair. Which it was.

You try driving in the winter time without any heat. It's freezing cold and impossible to keep the windows defrosted. On top of that I have no warranty. It was the slow session so, I had to deal with this for 3 months until i got my taxes back to get it fixed. Not very happy especially since I've only had it for 2 years. uh!!!!

The level 2 blower speed is completely gone. It's very hot were I'm at so I can be mildly comfortable with the a/c on level one or I can freeze with it on level 3. No happy medium
