Corroded (leaking) metal elbow from the fuel pump module to the gas lines. Failure of the metal elbow caused gas to be pumped onto the top of fuel tank and surrounding areas while driving with just a hint of a gas smell inside the vehicle. The defective fuel module was replaced at an independent auto repair shop. The technician showed me the old part and where it was leaking. Corrosion was very heavy on the elbows.

I own a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer that upon trying to start sprayed gas all over the ground and my kids getting in car. I had vehicle towed to dealer just to find there was nothing they would do since I have 70,000 miles on vehicle. The dealer said the fuel pump had rusted through and needed replacing at a cost of 1,200.00$. should a $25,000 american made SUV last more than 4 years"?"

When filling gas tank, gas spews out of the gas tank before the pump turns off. It don't matter how the gas nozzle is put in. It happens every time.
