CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2002-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer is known for many things, but perhaps it is most famous for its faulty fuel gauge.
This gauge flip-flops more than a politician during election season. Some report that the gauge says "empty" after a fill-up, while others report the gauge says "full" when they're running on fumes. Either way, there's one thing everyone seems to agree on: the darn thing is just wrong.
Following hundreds of complaints and a few accidents allegedly caused by the malfunction, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation into the issue in May 2011. Unfortunately for frustrated owners, no recall has been announced.

Acs/ service stabilitrak light comes on while driving and to get it to go off I have to stop and turn the vehicle off and back on again. Also fuel gauge goes from full to empty even on a full tank of gas. When I turn my heat on it will only work on numbers 1-4. number 5 is completely out. Also there's a squeak in my brakes that I cant get to go away. I replaced the rotors and brakes and had 2 new front wheel speed sensors put on because I was told that was what was causing the service stabilitrak light to come on. But that didn't fix my problem either. I have been told that because I bought my vehicle used and it had miles on it when purchased that nothing is covered under a warranty.
Fuel gauge reads eradict. After filling, reads empty. Just keeps getting worse. Now it will read empty when I know there is at least 1/2 tank judging by the trip meter.
The gas tank ball sensor is defective and causes the environmental light to go on. The fuel tank always shows that its empty and can lead to people being stranded due to unknown amounts of fuel in the tank.
My 2006 Chevy Trailblazer gas gauge is not operational, I have read blogs and discussion boards and this defect is common on 06 Trailblazers. At the time of filling up your tank the engine warning light comes on and the gauge will swing to full and then gradually drop down to empty and the low fuel light will come on. Like myself, T here are a lot of owners depending on the "fuel used" indication and resetting at the time of fill up.
Fuel gauge stopped working on 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer, went on-line and saw that many people have the same problem right after their warranty goes out.
I have had numerous problems out of my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, but all have been covered under warranty up until this point. I purchased my vehicle new with 18 miles on it. It is currently at 42K and I am just outside of my warranty. I filled my car up twice this week and the fuel gauge showed full as I left the gas station. By the time I got home ( approx 1 mile away ) the low fuel indicator turned on. I took my car to the dealership and they indicated that my fuel gauge censor has gone. I took it to the dealership and they refuse to repair it free. The cost is $457. Unfortunately it costs me about that much a month to keep the sucker gassed up so I cannot afford to 'give' GM any more of my money. I am driving it as it is and searching for a cheaper route to repair my vehicle. I have to children that I have to Transport around and I am terrified that I will run out of gas. This is such an extreme and unnecessary stress. Please help.
