CarComplaints.com Notes: There are a fair-number of power steering related complaints which is a continuation of problems from the previous model year. Considering the problem tends to happen beyond the standard warranty (73k+) it's best to avoid this vehicle or at least be prepared for the $1,300+ repair.
There was a hissing noise and the AC would blow warm air. Then the heater started only blowing cold air in the mornings. I had had the same issue earlier in the year, they recharged the system and it worked fine for 5 months. This time the repair shop suddenly found a stuck valve. It is the one that changes when you switch between AC and the heater.
My 2011 Chevy Traverse makes a hissing noise inside cab that gets louder and louder as the cold air gets warmer and warmer. It reaches a high level, stops and the air starts to cool down. A few minutes later, the same cycle continues and this goes on more and more as the temp. outside gets warmer. Any suggestions?
I am very disappointed with Chevrolet because I hardly use the AC, I turn it on 15 -20 minutes or less in a morning and late evening during my work commute. Pep Boys want to charge an astronomical amount. Almost a car payment. 90 dollars for a hose, over $200 replenish refrigerant and over $250 in labor to replace the part without other miscellaneous fees.
