Service air bag flashes intermittently. There are a lot of complaints of this problem all over the internet, but no recall has been issued for my vehicle, even though recalls have been issued for other Chevy Traverse.
Air bag warning for front passenger seat comes on sometimes, and may go away when a passenger sits, or adjusts the seat, however, it does not always go off when the passenger tries to adjust his position, or the position of the seat. It happens sometimes when in motion, or sitting still, with or without someone in the passenger seat. Driveway, city street, highway, expressway, makes no difference. Who knows, may be a loose wire, pressure sensor, or something else unknown. Dealer wants $105 just to check it out. Other GM vehicles ever have an air bag problem with passenger seat air bag subject to recall?
Air bag light intermittently illuminates while stationary and in motion on any type of road. Dealer says it is an issue with a seat beat retractor. Air bag light on = air bags will not deploy N the event of an accident. The quote was over $500 to fix this issue.
My air bag light keeps coming on. I'm thinking this should be a manufacturer warranty? this is a very big issue as it involves the safety of all passengers in the Chevy Traverse. Please look into this immediately!!
"service air bag" message displayed and airbag light is on in the car's information center. The message just came on when I started my car in the morning. I've had this car for 10 months and it has been involved in no accidents.

My passenger front seat airbag is apparently malfunction as the "service airbags" continues to light up each time someone sits in that seat. I purchased the car in February 2017 from Texas auto direct. I googled my VIN and it says no open recalls. I did notice numerous complaints about this issue. How can I find out if there has been a recall on this vehicle and if my vehicle was ever serviced for it?
76,600 miles and the service air bag light is illuminated on my dash. Dealer is aware of issue. 2013 Traverses were recalled for the same issue but 2014 only received a service bulletin to extend the warranty to 72,000 or 6 years which ever came first. The air bags will not work when the light is on putting my children and I at serious risk if involved in an accident. This problem is due to a wire harness under the seat that needs to be soldered with a specialized by the dealer. The dealership stated the longer the light stays on the less of a chance the airbags will work even after the repair is completed. There are so hundreds of complaints for the same issue from other 2014 Traverse owners. I called the estero bay Chevrolet yesterday to notify them of the issue and the service manager kevin told me that I would have to pay a $119 diagnosis fee and for the repair to fix the issue. The repair could cost between $300 - $1,200. The dealer should be responsible for fixing this safety issue.this problem is because of their choice to use low quality parts or their manufacturing in the factory and not a normal wear and tear issue. I can not afford to fix this issue and am concerned that there is a chance even after paying for the repairs that my airbags will not work to protect my family if involved in an accident.
My car only has 40K miles on it and my air bag sensor is illuminated on the dash panel and came on while driving. I was told it is a bad sensor. After reading several reviews on line of other people with low miles having the same issues, I feel this should be a recall, not a pay $1200 out of pocket to have it fixed!
My service airbag light came on, and my mechanic also noted that there was an issue with my passenger seat belt anchor pretensioner deployment loop. This car has been in no accidents, and these issues should be recalled, but my dealer says there is no recall.
The air bag service light went off on 3/27/17 after getting new tires. Also a couple of months ago the car went out of park while my daughter was in the passenger side, I ran out to stop it!
The service airbag alert comes on for no reason, then goes off. It came back on again and did not go off. I drive speeds of 30 to 60 mph. My lights on the dash and radio dims and the radio cutoff at any given time. This is very serious problems because the vehicle can cut off while I am driving. I also experience water pouring into to my Traverse right over my front over head lamps inside. There was so much water it filled the cup holder and the shift was wet. The front windshield has never been changed and I don't have any cracks on my front window. I have no clue how the water is coming into my Traverse from the top and leaking in through the front over head lamps. I have brought it into the dealership, 1 day ago I still have not heard back from anyone. I asked if it was common, with the Traverse and I was told no. I obviously they lied, because I had to come on this website to see that other people are experiencing the same problems. I am not a car expert but the man at the dealership that has been doing this line of work for 30+ years said he could smell the water has soon has he sat in the vehicle. So obviously water has been leaking in from some where for a while now to be able to smell the water. I keep my car very clean and my carpets are dry. So the water must be coming in somewhere from the roof and staying reserved in a particular area until it pours out. The water may be the reason I am having the other issues, and may be each problems is not related at all. It is very frustrating because I am paying car note on a car that is am skeptical about driving because I don't know if it safe to drive. I have not only my safety to worry about I also have my children safety consider and other people that ride in this vehicle too. The lights dims while driving or when idling. The service air bag light is on all the time when driving, idling, or in park.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. While stationary, the vehicle slipped out of gear and rolled back into a swamp area. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 7,800. Updated 01/04/17 consumer stated while rolling backward, the brakes and steering were unresponsive. Could not get it to stop. Truck was running the entire time, but unresponsive to driver. Updated 7/6/18
While driving normally at a speed of 35mph, a message saying "service air bag" began appearing in the dic and the airbag light began coming on and off on the dash and over the next couple days occurred more often until now it stays on constantly. I have read multiple other complaints stating exactly the same thing or something very similar. This is obviously a manufacturing issue and needs to be a recall. Instead, now I get to schedule service and pay for a manufacturers defect out of pocket.
Airbag warning light indicator came on today, 10/25/16. Nothing happened to cause the light to come on and the dealership states that the airbag has become inoperable. Seems like a lot of issues reported and even a recall on earlier models. Wife was about 2 miles from house when indicator came on driving 55-60 down highway. Unknown what the issue is at this time but definitely a safety issue for the airbag to become inoperable. Has to be a faulty part as no accidents to cause a issue.
I have had this vehicle serviced 8 times for the "service airbag" light coming on repeatedly. They have replaced much of the system and the light is still on. This is a safety issue and the problem cannot be permanently corrected.
