The AWD control module failed due to corrosion caused by salty road water splash. Error code 0073. Went online and found this problem had been addressed in 2013 -2017 Trax and the Buick equivalent and was covered under extended warranty.
Had the job done at Dover Chevy, Dover, DE. Was told I had to pay because my VIN was not covered under the program as it only applied to certain vehicles sold in Canada. We live 15 miles south of the Canadian border. After extensive negotiation and conversation with Chevrolet customer service, and no response from the dealership customer service person, our claim was denied.
This problem is documented. The dealership used the bulletin outlining the problem and the repair procedure to fix the problem. The mechanic and service writer said that it is exactly the same problem as noted in the bulletin. But Chevrolet denied the claim. I have bought Chevy for nearly thirty years. I have used Chevy dealers for even basic service. No more. They refused to stand behind their product this time. And I will refuse to buy, recommend or patronize Chevrolet and their dealers from now on.
