- the contact stated that air bag sensor light continued to go on and off at any given time while driving. He contacted the dealership and was told that he needed to pay a minimum of $70 for the service department to run diagnostic tests on his vehicle. The contact stated that he contacted General Motors (GM), and was told that he had to pay for this service. The contact filed a complaint with GM on 01/02/06. The manufacturer stated that the air bag was a regular maintenance issue and they refusedt O correct this problem. In the owner's manual on page 7-16, it stated that the air bag system didn't need regular maintenance. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer and the file# was 71-464-478231. The contact own a 2001 Chevrolet Venture. The air bag sensor or switch underneath the passenger's seat has been replaced three times. The air bag light illuminated on the dashboard, letting the contact know the air bag switch or sensor needs to be replaced. The last replacement took place approximately a couple of years ago. The contact did not know if it was a sensor or a switch that needed to be replaced. The service dealer never indicated the reason for the replacement of the air bag switch or sensor. The service dealer has not been notified that the last replacement failed in the vehicle. The manufacturer has not been contacted to inform them that there was a problem with the vehicle.
