CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Chrysler 200 carries the torch of "never buy the 1st year of a new vehicle generation" with pride.
The 2015 model year is the first year of the Chrysler 200's 2nd generation. It has been plagued by problems from the start. Transmission failure at extremely low mileage, many recalls, problems stalling while driving... the list goes on. Maybe Chrysler should have stuck with the 1st generation.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle jerked and hesitated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the road shoulder, turned off the vehicle, and waited a few minutes. When the vehicle was restarted, the "service transmission" message immediately appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that a bolt on the transmission failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 107,412.
Car will slow accelerate when trying to gain speed quickly to pass or move out of the way of other cars. It will not accelerate and up shift/down shift to gain speed quickly. Almost got hit a couple of times because car would not accelerate to get out of the way. It is always in low gears and speed trying to gain speed.
Gator Chrysler service manager roger called this dealership and agreed to give me a new tire with road hazard warranty after I got a nail in my tires on his lot. The invoices will show this. The other tire they patched and roger after getting on phone with tire kingdom requested this come back to him. These original 4 tires, including the patched ones had matching dot numbers. The new one paid for by roger of gator chrylser melbourne, fl had an inmatched dot number, being from a new batch, also lesser tread wear compared to other 3. tire kingdom since has seen my car multiple times for tire punctures. I was told the car guys here are connected and nothing is for free. I was told they are pawns following someones directive. This is disturbing as it involves local organized crime, as even the police could not get away with this action legally. I saved tge patched tire and all records. Tire kingdom repeatedly with gator Chrysler of melbourne, fl sabotaged my car, tires since
On multiple occasions I have been driving down the road and my car shifts very hard and has made grinding noises. Not only that but ever since I have bought it, it shifts like a rubber band being pulled back and makes you lunge forward. I believe I have taken it in 3 times now and with no resolution. The first time I took it in they had a service rep ride with me to see what I was feeling. He personally said that it wasn't shifting correctly and so they kept it. When I picked it up they informed me they did not find anything wrong with it but re-programmed it. As I left the dealership it shifted worse than before. I then called and complained and they said it was normal, on my way back home it was consistently shifting rough. I finally just pulled over shut the car off and started it up again. After doing so it shifted smoother but worse than it did before. On a separate occasion I was driving down the highway at a speed of 70 mph set on cruise when I tried to disengage the cruise control function and it would not disengage! I was going from a highway to a speed limit change and could not get it. Luckily I have read about this happening and shifted it into neutral and I was able to disengage it after that.
When accelerating car shudders/ when brakes are applied at speeds of 20+ car shakes. Transmission races itself going up and down hill having trouble switching gears in an automatic transmission. Trouble shifting gears. Car has shut off while driving /switched to neutral by itself.

Takata recall: Where do I start. I have been having many issue with this car the latest issue which just happened my car wouldn't turn on and all the lights on the dash board would turn on the 'service transmission' 'serivce brakes' will turn and they would start flashing. When I would try to change gears my nobe would stay on park but the nobe would be turning! I would have to turn my car off and attempt to turn it back on then it would work. Now my brake is hard and my nobe will not turn my car stayed on neutral and now won't even turn on. Also before that the brakes system alert would go off from time to time. Other times my car would turn off out of nowhere. Overall my experience with this car has been bad.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, it shifted into neutral and became stuck in that gear. The vehicle was towed to carlock Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat of tupelo (966 cross creek dr, Saltillo, ms 38866, (662) 842-2277), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Tamara recall I have a 200S model purchased brand new. I first started having issues with the car maybe 20,000K miles in. When the car is sitting in park the transmission slips and automatically goes into neutral, then forces the car to be set in park. At this point the car cannot be moved and just shows the check transmission light. This particular incident has happened 3 times. On numerous occasions the car has lost power while in motion, the car also struggles to go into the next gear almost daily. I have been to the same Chrysler that I purchased the car from numerous times. The first time my computer needed to be updated, the second time it was the transmission module, 3-5 it was an update now I'm back to the module acting up. The transmission light just came on again yesterday, I wake up today and the light is gone and of course Chrysler tells me the can't do anything without a code being present. I've lost so many days of work with this car it's ridiculous, and since the car holds no value I'm stuck with negative equity!!! please help
This car shifts horribly. We purchased the vehicle last year from a dealer in green bay wi. The transmission was replaced due to a manufacturer's buyback in 2016
When driving the car jerks between speeds, especially from 3rd speed to 4 speed its a hard/rough shift. Even when stopping the car is still going and jerking. Very unsafe! especially in stop and go traffic, vehicle has a very bad delay when trying O merge into traffic.
After placing vehicle in drive or reverse the car will not move with a slight pressure on the accelerator then when apply a slight more pressure on the accelerator the car lurches forward/backwards.
Vehicle transmission does not function correctly. Severe jerking movements upon acceleration and breaking. Vehicle is very unsafe to drive in situations that require left or right hand turns into traffic. Extremely unreliable acceleration! vehicle will lose power in middle of turn with oncoming traffic. Several near misses when attempting to make a left-hand turn in multi-lane highways. Simply put, I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Dealership has serviced this vehicle multiple times with no resolution. This issue is an everyday occurrence.
While driving at about 25 mph, my car lost power with no warning. All of a sudden, I saw the error message "shift to park to start". when attempting to restart, it hesitated in doing so.
While driving, the car stops and the light flashes. First time it happen was 9/18/18 the car completely stop while I was driving, luckily, it wasn't a lot of traffick and the second time I was proceeding to a stop light 9/20/18. I am nervous to even drive the car but I have no other choice to drive it for the moment.
I have the issue with right side seat deployment squib 1 -circuit open, I went to dealers they are saying its not in warranty so can you please updated the recall on this air bag issue. Power train: I went to dealer nearly 4 times every time they update the transmission and when ever I step on brake, can will move forward and will stop it because my RPM is increasing high and its car is stopped all of sudden on the road.please recall my vehicle

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While the vehicle was in the park position, the instrument panel displayed that the vehicle was in neutral. In addition, the vehicle failed to power off. The vehicle was taken to perry Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (2340 national city blvd, national city, ca 91950, (619) 477-1234) where it was diagnosed that the transaxle wiring harness and the battery dead cell failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
Car jolts and jerks when changing gears. The transmission is slipping and when driver pushes pedal to accelerate there is a delay and causes a jolt. Driver has to make a complete stop for the transmission to keep up or it jolts. Unsafe on traffic conditions and unable to control jolts and jerks.
