There is a plastic shield underneath the front of the car, it is attached to the lower bumper. Every time we take a trip, extended time, fwy speeds, the damn thing starts coming apart and flying off the car. The shield has to be dropped every time the oil is changed. Twice the dealership did not replace it correctly after changing the oil. We had to abort our 63 mile trip on Nov. 23 because it came apart again.

We have had to use baling wire (On a $50K Car!) to tie the stupid thing up so we can make it back home. The dealer claims it is our fault (very low profile on the front of the Srt8) and refuses to fix it. The piece is held on by plastic clips and small bolts. When it gets warm and vibrates at highway speeds, the bolts and clips pull out and tear the holes so there is nothing to screw back together. Other than this shield problem the car is a dream. The first time it came off the car was 6 mos old (we bought in Jan 2006) and we were on our way to Montana, The dealer in Great Falls said the shield was not put back on correctly. The local dealer also told us that the shield system has been redesigned, which leads me to believe Chrysler knew it was a bad design. We considered taking the shield off completely but do not know if this would be harmful or void the warranty (We have an extended warranty)
