The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300C. While driving approximately 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning. After restarting, the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The failure recurred five times only after the vehicle was refueled to full capacity. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced due to the faulty fuel tank roll over. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

This has happened at least 3 times in the last 2 years. I would fill up with fuel and after leaving the gas station the vehicle would stall causing me to lose power steering and brakes and having to stop in the middle of traffic. I received a alert from Chrysler last year but have misplaced the letter. It stated that if I experienced this problem that I should take it to a dealer and they would replace the gas tank.

After filling gas tank, the engine stalls repeatedly. When it stalls, power steering is lost and car comes to stop sometimes in traffic. The engine then cranks normally. I took it to the dealer and they changed the egr valve which did not fix the problem. Suggested shotgun approach.

Vehicle stalled at low speed. The date indicated is believed to be approximately the first time this occurred. It has occurred about 6 times in the last two years, the last being on Jan 2, 2015. This last occurrence happened just after filling the tank, and within 1 mile. The vehicle stalled when approaching the entrance gate to the housing complex, again when arriving at the house, and once more while sitting idle.

Fueled up vehicle, car stalled as I was leaving the gas station. This has happened numerous times. Again when we were entering freeway after fueling up, the car stalled in the middle of the street. The car has also stalled going around a round-about. Car was able to start after the stall with no other incident.

After filling my fuel tank, the car idled erratically, surged, and died multiple times, usually right after takeoff. This has happened every time I have filled my fuel tank for the last several months, and has nearly caused an accident on more than one occasion.

My wife drives this vehicle. Every time she fills it up with fuel, the car stalls in traffic 2-3 times immediately after she drives away from the gas station. It will however restart after a few minutes. She has had several close calls that could have resulted in a serious accident. At least once she was driving through a curve when the engine stalled, disabling the power steering where she was no longer able to control the vehicle to a safe stop. The first time this happened, I took it to the dealer and they told me it was my wife's fault because she must be overfilling the tank. They told me to tell her to let the fuel pump nozzle shut off the fuel when the tank was full and not put in any additional fuel after that. Well we tried this and it makes absolutely no difference. Then I carried it back to the dealer again and they told me that they had since found out from Chrysler that this was due to a defective fuel tank issue and the only fix was to replace the tank and associated parts at a cost of approx. $2000. If Chrysler knew that the fuel tank was defective, it should be fixed under warranty. Chrysler should not be allowed to get away with this. It is a serious safety issue and someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed if they haven't already! please help. Thank you.

I have had engine stalling after refueling on numerous occasions since 2007. Received a letter dated May 8, 2014 from Chrysler group llc informing me that my model Chrysler has a condition where the furl shut-off float in the multifunction control valve sticks, causing the vehicle to stall. The letter informed me that the warranty on the tank had been extended to lifetime coverage. This is where my problem with the vehicle continues.... on 17 June 2014 took my vehicle to cutter Chrysler in pearl city, Hawaii 96782 to get it repaired (my wife will not ride in the vehicle because of the stalling). I was informed that the part is on back order (approximately 2-3 months). I went back in September and was informed it should be 1-2 weeks. I went back today 3 November 2014 and was informed still on back order with no date as to when parts may be received. Chrysler has not adequately addressed this problem with an extended warranty, when you can't get your vehicle repaired because of back ordered parts. It has been 6 months and no repair in sight. My wife does not consider this low risk to vehicle safety and has not ridden in the vehicle since 2008! how can the preliminary evaluation be closed when Chrysler has not adequately addressed fixing the problem. Warranty extended, but no parts!! investigation closed but no repairs. The problem is still a problem!

Car continues to lose power in the midst of driving down the highway it in traffic. We experienced power failure some 45 times last night driving home. At one point we could not go faster than 45 mph. The fuel pump has been changed and the issue has not stopped. Now the Chrysler tech says that the computer is not communicating with the transmission and a module is needed. This problem has existed for quite some time now and we don't know now what to do and I'm afraid we will have a deadly accident with this vehicle going dead while driving down the road or highway in traffic. There is no warning prior to stopping it just stops.

The car stalled right after being filled with gas. I restarted the car pulled forward and stopped for traffic and it stalled again. It restarted and went a few blocks and stalled again. I was able to restart the car and it did not stall again. I drove it home and have not driven it again. This is a know problem by Chrysler. They say it is the fuel valve and have replaced the tanks on some cars but not all that are having the problem. I intend to see if they will replace my gas tank under the warranty but others have had a problem with them covering it. Chrysler is calling their recall the X53 19 gallon extended warranty program. Thank you.

Once again I am driving my car and it stalled in the middle of traffic I was almost rear-ended with my son in the back seat because I got gas for my car. Chrysler needs to be responsible and fix this issue. I took my car to the dealership and they told me good luck with getting it fixed because the gas tank is on back order and they don't know when it will be in. I am an single parent and this is my only car that I have and I am afraid to drive it because it stalls. Now I am wondering if by suddenly losing power if this is going to affect the engine in the long run. I don't know what to do I guess Chrysler is going to wait until a family or someone is killed because the car dies in traffic until they do something.

Filled up with gas. While driving 30 mph car stalled going down a hill and brakes became rigid. To try to avoid crashing into other vehicle I went over a sidewalk. Tire broke, hit a tree and had to shut off car to stop car as brakes were not stopping the car. Then I ended damage another vehicle because of busy traffic. This all happened because the car stopped less than 5 minutes after refueling.

The car stalls at random after a fuel fill up. Eventually it will run normally, however it happens multiple times first and puts me in a dangerous position when it stalls in traffic. I have had both fuel pumps replaced last year and it seemed to help for a while, now the problem is back.

Bought the car used. After only a week, the car started stalling and would die at most stops. The fuel tank was replaced by dealer per extended warranty. This did not solve the problem!!! it's worse now than before the tank was replaced!! this is a very dangerous car to drive!! there are thousands of these case reported. Chrysler needs to figure this out and make good on a very serious safety issue. How many have to die before something is done?!!!!

On the first of July I was preparing for a trip and stop at a gas station to fill up. On my way home from the gas station my car stalled while going down the road. I lost power steering, brakes, etc, and was lucky that I was able to bring the vehicle to a stop safely and get the vehicle home, stalling several more times. I looked on the internet to see if I could determine what had gone wrong and I found that there is a defect with the gas tank on my vehicle and that due to an agreement with the fed gov and Chrysler. It was determined that Chrysler was going to extend the warranties on this gas tank to replace the defective ones without a recall. I contacted my local Chrysler dealer and they ordered the parts and told me it would be approximately 2 weeks before a repair could take place. Two weeks later I contacted the dealer and was told that the parts were on back order. I wrote an email to Chrysler asking for clarification and I was told the following "according to our records your vehicle was included in the X53 19 gallon fuel tank extended warranty. Unfortunately at this time the parts to perform the X53 repair are currently on a restriction with the dealerships having access to order 1 part every 14 days for the one repair and 1 part every 7 days for the other repair. At this time we recommend continuing to work with your dealership to have this repair completed." I has now been 4 weeks and I still to not have this vehicle repaired. This response is unacceptable to me and is a safety concern to me and I think for other drivers who have the same issue!! I ask the NHTSA relook this issue an address Chrysler to expedite replacement of the defective tanks before someone gets injured.

My car stalled in the middle of an intersection and I was almost broadsided by another car. My car stalls and bucks every time I fill up with gas. This happens when I am stopped, at low speeds and at highway speeds. It has caused a dangerous situation on numerous occasions. I took my car to the Chrysler dealership in lakeland, fl about three years ago and their solution to the problem was to tell me to not fill the tank all the way up. That is not the proper solution to this problem. It needs to be fixed before someone gets killed!
