After complaining to Chrysler Customer Care of the Crossfire Roadster rear window falling out, the Chrysler agent asked, "Did you maintain the window properly?" I replied, "Yes. I wash it every time I wash the car and top. Additionally, I complained that Chrysler knew or should have known, going back to the 2005 model, which was eventually recalled in September 2011, that the adhesive used to secure the convertible top rear window was defective; yet Chrysler continued to manufacture the 2006, 2007 and 2008 models with the same adhesive failure, and that the Chrysler dealer failed to disclose this continuing latent defect at the time of sale to the customer, knowing full well the customer would be impacted, at great expense in purchasing a new top, which is the only viable option. When I complained that Chrysler was continuing to defraud uninformed purchasers in this manner and mentioned "lawyer", the agent refused to discuss the matter any further. The Customer Care person was obviously reading from a script limiting him to certain questions and expecting certain answers.

Chrysler has not been helpful. Dealer solution was a new top for $3000+.

Same service as the airbag recall...they have no idea when a fix will be available. I suppose they expect me to drive the potential bomb in the Florida heat and humidity and take my chances.

I will never own another FCA product again.

convertible window fell out convertible window fell out

Our rear window fell out on our 2008 Chrysler Crossfire. The back window separated from the top and we have checked with a local dealer and they said for a new top from them it would be $3,600 which is ridiculous. We found an upholster who can do it for about $1,500. We would like to have it fixed if at all possible but if we need to replace the top we will. Oh and we checked with Chrysler HQ and got nothing but harassment simply because our Crossfire is an 08 and not an 05. Simply the most rude people we have ever dealt with. Any help is appreciated. We heard about the 3M window fix but we are not too sure on specifics on what to get and that sort of thing.

convertible window fell out

Chrysler has known of this problem since 2005. They have a replacement offered for that year but not for any other year because as they told me via phone that not enough complaints warrant an extended warranty. My car has been garaged and hardly used so not out in the sun much. Some suggest re-glueing the window but that is not a guarantee and the cost is $850 for a trim shop to do so. The dealership told me to take it to the trim shop as they cannot do anything. I also paid for a "service contract" by Chrysler specifically for any trouble with the convertible top and the finance manager told me it was covered but found out today that the top is not covered under warranty or service contract. (original dealership closed after I bought my car). There are many complaints about this problem…window should have been sewn in…too heavy for the canvas…etc. online. Come on Chrysler…own up to your mistake!!

Update from Aug 11, 2014: I reported to the BBB and they sent me a letter from Chrysler stating my 3 yr/36.000 mile warranty had expired on my top. That is the first I have heard of that warranty. I am upset the extended warranty doesn't cover the top or that they are not acknowledging a defect! Please report to the BBB your problems also!! Providing a photo of car top released to re-glue.

Update from Aug 11, 2014: BBB sent me a Chrysler response that the warranty has expired (3yr/36000. First time I have been told of that but they did not acknowledge a defect in the way the glass is held to canvas. Please turn in your complaint to the BBB and this website. More may make a difference as so in 2005 model.
