CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2006 is the worst year for PT Cruiser engine complaints. Having an engine light on is annoying, but it's the complaints about the engine shutting-off while driving that really have us concerned.

I was 61 when I bought the car new. I'm 71 now and the transmission went totally out. I can't believe that

I only had 84,772 miles on it. I drive reasonably and it didn't give me any problems before.. nothing to say

it was going out. Drove in my drive and started rattling. Didn't drive anymore had towed to shop were listened with a stethoscope and found noise loudest in lower bell housing and transfer gear cover. they removed structural cover and brace to access flexplate for inspection. checked torque converter bolts all were tight. No cracks but appears transmission has internal damage and will need to be replaced. It would be appreciated it Chrysler could cover expenses on something that should have lasted way longer.
