CarComplaints.com Notes: Engine cradle rot is a serious problem in the 2004-05 Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler admits they didn't apply enough coating to the vehicle's sub-frame during assembly, but only offered to cover a very small portion of the vehicles they messed up.
So what happens when your engine cradle rots? Well, the engine could fall out for starters. It could also cause problems with the suspension and other components but did I mention THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT? The worst part is you might not know because there's no way to see the problem without getting under the car.
If you have a 2004-05 Pacifica, make sure to have your mechanic inspect your sub-frame for rust and corrosion.

Last Fall my 6 disc dvd changer started making funny noises and eventually just quit. A friend had a pacifica from the same yr that they were junking and gave me their player. According to everything online, as long as the part numbers matched up, it should be a plug and play situation. After installing it, it sounded like it was cycling through then lights 1-3 and 4-6 started flashing alternately and radio showed error message. For Christmas we purchased another player online with part number matching down to the letter. The same thing occurred. I have read about this complaint in several forums but have not gotten any answers. It usually occurs if the battery has died or been disconnected. I have also contacted 2 dealers and Chrysler and still have no answers. Now I have a hole in my dash and I want to trade the car but value will be less because entertainment system doesn't work.
