This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Traveling down the interstate, a vehicle was traveling slower, so I slowed down until it was clear to merge lanes to pass, once I switched lanes and depressed the gas pedal, the transmission jerked and wouldn't shift making the car slow down, once I let go of the gas, it did a rough shift and I was able to accelerate again
From a dead stop, turning left the vehicle accelerated and got "stuck" in gear, the engine was revving but the transmission would not engage the next gear, once I set my foot off the gas pedal and reapplied it, the transmission allowed the gear to shift in, and the vehicle slowly moved up to speed, but still with a slight jerk.
My 2017 Pacifica was recalled in January 2018 for the engine stall problem. Chrysler told me they might not have a fix for the problem until the 2nd quarter of the year! I told them that I wasn't driving a dangerous car around. I brought it to the dealer and it sat there for a month while I drove a rental. I was then told that the PCM was updated with software and it was fixed. After a picked it up I got a notice from Chrysler saying that I didn't need to do the repair because it was fixed during the prior recall for egr valve"?" well, while driving last week, the car stalled six times in two days! one of times I was parked and idling, another time, I was slowing down for a light and the other times I was just driving. I had it towed to the dealer and they've had it for a week and are in contact with Chrysler trying to remedy it! whatwver they did to "fix" this recall previously did not fix it as the very dangerous problem is still happening! will not drive my family around in this terrible car.
I was driving on a state route (rt. 59 rockland county, NY) after light turned green I started to accelerate and all of the sudden the car went into neutral. The light above the "D" (drive mode) indicator started blinking and the car wouldn't accelerate. I had to stop in middle of a busy intersection and shift into park, then shift back to drive. This has to be addressed urgently since this is a very dangerous thing. I don't feel comfortable driving my car anymore. I called Chrysler and they say it's unusual and I should bring it to the dealer in 2 weeks (that's when they have an available appointment). I hope the nhsta can do something about this faster.
The vehicle stalls while in motion and while shifting from first to the second gear or from second to third gear. After it stalls for a couple of seconds the vehicle jumps. It is not something constant that will occur, only sometimes and the dealer cannot reproduce the occurrence and they cannot take any action to fix it (at least this is their response). The computer is not recording any malfunction. When this occurs but you cannot accelerate or decelerate, or do anything to avoid any potential accident. I submitted the vehicle to two Chrysler dealers for a check and because they couldn't reproduce the incident they told me to wait until such issue occurs more constant. This is a very disturbing approach because it happens while the vehicle is in motion and can provoke an accident. I have 4 children and I use the van to drive my family and this is a significant safety issue that should be considered more seriously. Updated 8/30/18

Since 11/2017, have had ongoing issue with sensation of a very hard shift occurring when accelerating especially if I have been driving in heavy traffic for some time. This has been on both highways and on local streets. Sensation is so hard, it feels like vehicle has been rear ended. This has occurred both before and after recall work was done. Have requested evaluation twice at dealer and each time nothing able to be found as cause. The event does not occur all of the time so service techs most likely did not experience it. Starting the week of 4/30, van has started to be slow in acceleration when pulling away from red lights, intersections and merging onto highways. Feel van is becoming increasingly unsafe to drive. Also had check engine light come on and found to be fuel pressure sensor. When first replaced at dealer, fuel pressure sensor worked for a few days and then van would not start and approx. 1/4 tank of gas lost on parking lot surface. Required towing and when checked O-ring had crimped and burst on new sensor.
Vehicle was recalled due to Pacifica's stalling creating dangerous situations, van was take to dealership and software updated. Our van had been having many transmission issues, mainly hard shifts that shifted so hard it felt like the vehicle was rear ended. After the software update, our family was on an on ramp to the highway and the vehicle suddenly just stalled and stopped. The vehicle finally began moving again after what seemed like a long time but was most likely 5 - 10 seconds. Had a vehicle been following us it would have resulted in an accident without question. The van made it home and has been parked in our garage as we feel it is unsafe to drive. Chrysler has been contacted and is looking into it. We bought a new vehicle and this one because of the many safety features, unfortunately we are left with a vehicle that puts my wife and three kids in danger.
Van stalled at low speed while slightly turning to the right in a parking lot, then came back on on its own. The engine was not running for a few seconds. My van has already had all recalls completed.
Van stalls intermittently while driving without warning. This van has had the Chrysler recall for this issue performed on it in late 2017 and its still stalling about every 500 to 1200 miles of operation. Van is very dangerous to drive it can quit on a moments notice without warning at any speed. The obd2 system records no system faults when this has happened as per dealer service that has looked at the vans data logs. Chrysler claims the van has been repaired via download update for egr valve that also included the stalling fix but it has not fixed the issue.
My vehicle has a recall notice U01 from Chrysler and a letter was delivered that it was completed after the recall was issued on January 11th 2018. The car has never been to any dealers and the letter claims that this was completed 2/18/18. I believe that they are sending false notices about recalls being completed without them actually being completed. As a matter of fact, we did experience this complete stall as described in the recall.
The driver side rear sliding door on various occasions almost completes the closing process as it comes to lock it beeps and bounces back. The vehicle was stationary and no obstructions in the way. In other instances more recently the transmission had a rough shift on lower gears. The rear automatic cargo door starts opening and gets stuck at the midway point.
Engine shut off while driving at approx. 25mph on a snow covered street in the dark. Lost all power and electrical systems and was stranded in middle of street with traffic all around. Engine restarted after a number of attempts. Vehicle had previously been updated with recall to address this issue in January of 2017 (U01/NHTSA 18V-049). Contacted Chrysler and was told they are aware of the issue and expect another software recall to be ready in April. They requested the vehicle be taken out of service and provided an rental car until update will be made available.
I purchased my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica touring L on 7/22/2017, everything was going great until mid August. My uconnect radio kept freezing, the engine ticked (stopped itself within a few weeks), the tailgate got stuck half way a few times trying to automatically close. It's just stop midway and I'll have to manually push it shut close. Within later months (beginning around October) my began to jerk back every so often (about twice a week) while driving. It's happened at both high and low speeds so I'm not sure what the problem is. I've took it to the dealership service center multiple times but they don't have a solution or 'fix' for the problem. Since they don't have a solution they won't do anything about it. Recent month (December/January) the jerking is getting worse. It's beginning to jerk almost everyday, sometimes more than three times a day! I've been continuing to pay my lease for a car I'm terrified of driving. I've read so many horror stories of people Pacifica's stalling while on the freeway. I refuse to have my family ride in what suppose to be a safe vehicle. I took the vehicle in for repair last week for the engine stalling and they still don't have a resolution to the fix. The day after I picked up my vehicle, while driving home that night it jerked back while going down a city main street. A few minutes later it gave me this message on the dash (image attached)
Brand new... owned less than a month... 750 miles...we live at the top of a very steep hill with a sharp curve at the bottom. I reversed out of my driveway onto the street and shifted the van into drive. I felt the car go into gear and I started rolling down the hill, as it's a steep incline you pick up speed quickly. As the van gained speed down the hill something felt "wrong" and I suddenly realized I wasn't in full control of the vehicle. With the sharp curve quickly approaching I stomped the brake and brought the van to a stop. I put the van in park at the bottom of the hill and tried understand what was going on. I put the van back in drive, felt it go into gear but when I tried to accelerate nothing happened. Put in it reverse, felt it go into gear and it started to go backwards a little herky jerky but when I pressed the accelerator nothing happened. I had to put it back in park, turn it off and then restart it before it I could drive it back up to my house. I took it to the dealership the next morning. Turns out it was the day after the dealer received notice of the recall. I was told my VIN number fell under the recall, my PCM needed new software and they couldn't do anything until Chrysler provided the fix which wasn't expected until April and they couldn't even sell the ones on the lot. Call Chrysler! I have called Chrysler almost everyday for the last 2 weeks and all I get is a "sorry but I can't do anything, waiting to hear from the regional supervisor". I live in atlanta and if that happened on I-285 (5-6 lanes) you would be roadkill! there is absolutely no way in hell you could stop the car, put it in park, stop the engine and then restart safely. At this point it's a $32K rolling death trap that Chrysler won't/can't deal with... 100% unsafe for my wife and 3 kids!
Back in November 2017, my family and I were driving 70mph on the freeway and the car's dashboard light all turned on and started blinking. The car lost power forcing me to quickly pull over and avoided another car from colliding. The service lights turned on. I turned of the ignition and turned it back on. I took the car to the dealership the following day. They ran a diagnostic test but could not pull any codes of the incident. I saw the recall announced a couple of days ago. I contacted Chrysler and was informed that the fix for this recall will not be available until 2nd quarter of 2018. I do not feel safe driving this car, especially with my kids on board. We purchased this car for its safety rating, now we are driving a death trap.
I was driving in my residential neighborhood, I had slowed down at a corner to let a child on a bike pass me by. When the child passed me, I put my foot on the gas and the car moved and then stopped - everything shut off, the lights, the engine, everything. I am not sure what happened next- people behind me were honking like crazy and I it took me a few seconds to figure out what to do next. I put the car in park and pushed the start/stop button and car started again. There was an error message on the dashboard (the a with an arrow and exclamation point), I drove straight to the dealership and left the car with them. The consumer stated the uconnect stopped working as well as the airbag.
While waiting at a red light my auto stop/start system automatically activated as usual. However, this time when the light turned green the engine did not automatically start. Instead, the vehicle stalled. The car was in drive and my foot was on the brake pedal. A warning chime alerted me to the problem. Also, a message instructed me to turn the car off and the put it into park and restart it. After turning the car off and then on the car moved.
Hesitation then lurching when initiating acceleration at low speeds. Loud cranking/scraping noise when releasing accelerator at speeds greater than 40mph. Transmission was replaced by dealership for "burnt fluid" twice, but problem remains. Vehicle's tachometer at times shows rpms going up to 6000 when decelerating.
2017 Chrysler Pacifica recall my car stalls upon slowing down or stopping. It also flutters, like it is trying not to stall while driving. The dealership claims they cannot duplicate the problem, however there is also an open recall for the same issue on my car and VIN # but they are telling me they do not have the remedy yet. If you do not have the remedy yet, the car should not be returned to me for clear unsafe reasons and a lender car should be given until the recall can be fixed. Corporate Chrysler has also yet to announce when the new software update will be readily available, causing my dealership town and country in levittown to not have any answers for me. I should not be given back a car that is unsafe, that can stall and cause an accident with my children in the car. It should be kept until fixed and answers should be given.
For the past year the car jerks forward and stalls while driving. Especially after going from a stop. Sometimes it is so bad, you violently jerk forward. Have broughten to dealer twice for this. Once they did a softward update, that did not help. Second time they said it was normal
