2001 Chrysler Sebring LX, 2.7 litre V6 engine. Dead after 169,000 Km. Replaced with refurbed engine the same as original. Now new engine has 49,000 Km and will hardly start after sitting for twelve or so hours. Oil Change every 4,000 Km, Horn beeps, lights flash, car hums, will start after five or six attempts. Runs good when started. Engine Light constantly on though. and oil light comes on when braking or at an idle. Ran OBDII diagnostics, got P0601 (checksum error), and P1684 (battery disconnected within last 50 starts). Cleared both, Engine light still remains on and checksum error still there after clearing on second start after clearing. Disconnected battery for about one hour, re-connected, car started great, shut car off, and here we go again when trying to re-start. If rest of car hadn't been maintained as well as it has been, ie: drivetrain, suspension, and body all like new, I would drive this car itself into Georgian Bay just to get rid of the engine. Looks like yet another engine exchange, but it sure as heck won't be a 2.7 litre V6.
